- Review Chapter 7 in your course text, Crisis Intervention Strategies, and the required articles focusing on the crisis and trauma-specific diagnoses of PTSD, chronic adjustment disorder, acute stress disorder, and dissociation.
- Select one of the following diagnostic categories from the DSM-5: chronic adjustment disorder, acute stress disorder, dissociation.
- Think about the similarities and differences between PTSD and the other diagnostic category you selected. Review the optional learning resources to review some of the differences.
- Consider how you would determine the accuracy of a diagnosis of PTSD, chronic adjustment disorder, acute stress disorder, and dissociation.
With these thoughts in mind:Post by Day 3 explain the importance of diagnosis in crisis intervention and how you can determine the accurate diagnosis. Provide specific examples of at least 2 similarities and 2 differences between PTSD and other diagnostic categories that you might find with crisis clients.
