Health care ethics debates

Health care ethics debates
Topic of the Final Paper
Student will choose a topic of interest in the domain of Health Care Ethics. For the purposes of this paper, it is advised that students choose a topic that has been the cause of an ongoing debate.  Using the resources from the NSU Electronic Library (all academic resources, no websites such as Wikipedia.org, etc) and class resources , the student will develop a 10 page paper presenting the history of the topic, in depth description of the problems arising within the topic, arguments pro and cons, current state of the debate, and will conclude with a personal informed opinion.  A minimum of 10 sources must be used for this paper, regardless of page #’s written.
The following topics are NOT allowed for the final paper: Abortion, Stem Cell Research, and Physician Assisted Suicide.
Google ‘health care ethics debates’ to give you some topic ideas.
Use APA style writing standards for composition and references. Double-spaced. Use a word processor and be sure to save the paper in MICROSOFT WORD.
There are three basic assumptions that should be met for the successful completion of a good paper. First, the student must possess the intellectual ability, curiosity and investment in the topic. If you do not choose a topic that interest you,  you will find yourself getting disheartened and bored and the quality of your paper will suffer.
Second, resources should be available for completing your paper. Use the NSU electronic library, and other internet resources.
Third, the topic should be relevant to the field of health care ethics.
Guidelines for Paper The written paper is to be prepared in accordance with the following guidelines: 1. Components: The paper should contain all of the following components: i.    title, ii.   author, iii.  introduction, v.  brief analysis of the current literature, vii. discussion, x.  and bibliographic references.
Manuscript Preparation: The manuscript shall be typewritten double-spaced  with 1″ margins on all four sides. The pages are to be numbered consecutively, beginning with the first page of text. The font for the type should be no larger than 12 point and in Times New Roman font style. Text Requirements: The cover page should contain the title and author’s names.  The main text should begin on a separate page and be:
Final Paper
–   10 double-spaced pages, excluding bibliographic references, for the final paper.
****NOTE, Very Important:
The final paper is a 5 (FIVE) page MINIMUM, and 10 (TEN) page MAXIMUM. If you feel you can cover the information asked of you in only five pages, then you are welcomed to do so. However, I have found it extremely difficult for students to convey all the information in this short number of pages, resulting in lower grades. It is entirely up to you.
Again, 5 pages minimum for the final paper. This is for the body of the paper and bibliographic references and cover pages are in ADDITION to the page requirement.
If you turn in less than the required pages (Five pages Minimum for Final), your paper will not be graded.
References: Students are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of references.
Academic Honesty: The professor will assume that all work will be that of the student’s, and students will properly acknowledge the thoughts and words of another if used in any reports. Plagiarism is defined as an “act of stealing (i.e., ideas and/or writings) from another and passing them off as one’s own is the act of literacy theft.” I use turnitin.com to check all papers/assignments for plagiarism. This software checks thousands of internet sources, research paper mills (such as freepapers.com, etc), journal articles, etc. Make sure to always CITE your sources in APA style, and avoid using large in-text quotes. Always paraphrase in your own words and then CITE the source. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
GRADING OF FINAL PAPER

Within the context of your intro, share your perspective on the importance of “finding balance” between the roles of healthcare delivery providers, such as nurses and assorted clinicians in a hospital environment next to the business/financial component that drives variables such as costs, length of stay, discharge protocols, admit/surgical denials, and any others

Within the context of your intro, share your perspective on the importance of “finding balance” between the roles of healthcare delivery providers, such as nurses and assorted clinicians in a hospital environment next to the business/financial component that drives variables such as costs, length of stay, discharge protocols, admit/surgical denials, and any others.  Further consider that there is (or should be) a synergy among/between patient care providers and bean counters, yet it requires money to keep the beds open and salaries paid—just as it takes the care provided by trained professionals on the units.  How effective is writing “policy” on matters such as these?
This first assignment should be at least two pages in length, double spaced, 12 points font, and the title page is not part of the page count.  If you cite, be sure to include your sources within the essay, and at the end in a separate Reference List.  However, because this assignment is more of an opportunity to opine, sources are not mandatory.
