Fiction Essay Draft
Choose one of the options listed below and write a fictional narrative that incorporates themes and evidence from your own experience, the texts we’ve read in class, and research if necessary. The aim of this essay is to combine personal introspection with an ability to make connections between your own life and the lives of others. Furthermore, these essays aim to alternate between presenting experience and exploring an idea/event from the past. The story should be based on nonfiction events (if you’d like), but those events should be transformed by you into fiction. Use a single means of perception, have fully developed scenes as well as openings and closings, and use dialogue to push the story ahead. You must have at least two fully developed (round) characters.
The whole point of this assignment is to have fun and explore the realm of your writing abilities. Push the fences, challenge yourself to take things to the next level, and craft round characters that the reader can see with their own eyes.
Option 1: Craft a fictional essay that features a vile character who does terrible things whom the reader must feel sympathetic to.
Option 2: Craft a fictional essay that features a sympathetic character who is fundamentally good, but does a horrible thing.
Option 3: Pick an event from your past and convert it into a fictional essay. Many of the events can be the same, but you will want to change several key plot points to allow it to prosper in a fictional world.
Your essay should be two to three pages, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins. Use MLA formatting and citations as need
