XXXX Committee Meeting
A committee meeting is defined as, “A small group of people chosen to represent a larger organization and either make decisions or collect information for it (Committee, n.d.)”. Committees are an important factor for medical facilities all over the world. This paper discusses the role of the collaborative practice committee at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, the employees attending the meeting, the observation of interactions between them, and shared governance.
Functions of the Committee and Role of Attendees
Committees consist of employee participation in decision-making and a team work approach to decrease errors (Amirabadi, Maleki, Salehi, & Watankhah, 2016). The collaborative practice committee at XXXX Hospital meets on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss topics with staff on how to improve the unit. The function of the committee is to present topics such as falls, staff turnover, patient satisfaction, medication errors, and new information. Members of the unit attending the meeting have the ability to voice their opinions, questions, and concerns on how to go about changing and improving the unit. If needed, attendees will vote on new practices on the unit.
Personal Observation of Interactions
At the collaborative practice meeting, there were four main speakers, one manager, the clinical educator, the director, two respiratory therapist representatives, and over twenty floor staff including nurses, monitor tech, certified nursing assistants, and health unit coordinators. The collaborative practice president and vice president presented on the main scheduled topics and asked for audience feedback. Multiple staff joined in the conversation, some presenting additional issues to address. Employees took turns asking questions and adding to the conversation. At the end of the meeting, the two collaborative practice chairs spoke of surveys, when the next meeting would be, and where the next meeting would be.
Decisions of Shared Governance
Shared governance is a model that was introduced to improve the nurse work environment, satisfaction, and retention. The model was created to implement core values and beliefs that the professional nursing practice embraces while achieving quality care (Anthony, 2004). In the collaborative practice meeting, staff were able to ask questions, input their thoughts, present concerns, listen, and add to the overall conversation. In assessing the meeting to determine if shared governance was a factor, this writer believe that it was a part of the meeting. The reason being is because nurses with different roles and experience met to converse about how to make the cardiac unit a better place not only for patients, but staff as well.
Conclusion
Committees are an important aspect in medical organizations. They assist in breaking down issues in meetings by presenting them to staff. The meetings then accumulate information from staff members that are concerned, have questions, or simply want to place input. Meetings at Aspirus proudly uses shared governance because it is a vital role in committee meetings to help nurses feel that they are heard.

FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING EDUCATION

DIRECTIONS
FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING EDUCATION
Competencies: 7009.1.1: Education Environments and Trends in Nursing Education –  The graduate analyzes evolutionary trends in higher education and nursing education. 7009.1.2: Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Education –  The graduate examines theoretical foundations of education that affect nursing education.7009.1.3: Nursing Curriculum Foundations –  The graduate evaluates nursing curricula for relevance and effectiveness within the setting in which they will be used.7009.1.4: Fundamentals of Learning Assessment –  The graduate describes the essential concepts of assessing student learning. 7009.1.5: Ethical, Legal, and Accreditation Implications in Nursing Education –  The graduate evaluates various ethical, legal, and accreditation issues related to nursing education.
Introduction: As a nurse educator, you may be expected to lead and participate in the development and revision of nursing programs. Therefore, it is essential that you have the competencies to analyze internal and external factors and trends that impact the design and delivery of nursing curricula. You must also be able to use a variety of learning theories to guide the development of nursing curriculum and integrate relevant educational philosophies, modalities, and assessments to achieve identified program outcomes. The clear articulation of the ethical standards and desired learner outcomes to stakeholders will be necessary for achieving the requirements of state and national regulatory and accrediting agencies. Scenario: At Hartford Community College, the executive team has decided to change the current two-year associate degree nursing program to a four-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program. As the director of allied health programs, you have been asked to chair the nursing curriculum committee, which is charged with fully designing the new BSN program. Your position gives you access to societal, economic, and institutional trends that are current in the field of nursing education. Taking these items into consideration, your committee has been tasked with gathering information and presenting it for the new BSN program. You are to ensure the new BSN program is consistent with state and national professional standards and guidelines. You will be creating a report to take to the board of directors for approval. Requirements:
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. Use the Turnitin Originality Report available in Taskstream as a guide for this measure of originality.
Professional Communications is a required aspect to pass this task. Completion of a spell check and grammar check prior to submitting your final work is strongly recommended.    You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

CLO 1: Evaluate existing scientific evidence to be used in decision making related to practice, leadership, or education. (ILO and PLO 3, ILO and PLO 7).
TASK
Use the provided template to critically appraise a quantitative study. Apply the grading rubrics to make sure that your submission is up to par with the requirements. Additionally, refer to the all unit resources (e.g., readings, recordings, announcements, etc.) to facilitate your process. Please make sure that you are choosing a quantitative study for your appraisal in a timely manner. Therefore, it is suggested to reach out one of our consultants from the USA library.
Requirements
This assignment is due at the end of week 7 at 11 p.m. A template is provided which describes the expectations for each section. In addition to submitting this template, also MUST submit a PDF of the study that you chose to appraise. If you do not submit the PDF of the study, your assignment is incomplete and a late penalty will apply. The study that you choose should be a study that you will be using for your synthesis project. It must be a quantitative research study (not a systematic review or a qualitative study) or you will receive a 0 for this assignment. No rewrites or resubmissions will be allowed.
