Portfolio of Statistical Exercises
For this portfolio of statistical exercises you will be presented with FIVE research questions and datasets which you need to conduct the relevant statistical test(s) for and write-up the findings in an appropriate format. You should attempt each question. The mark that you receive will reflect how well you have answered all FIVE research questions and therefore missing any questions out will adversely affect you mark.
For each exercise requiring data analysis you are required to conduct and then report the findings of an appropriate analysis of the data provided in the reporting style that we have shown you. You should screen the data prior to any analyses and routinely report appropriate estimates of effect size and other relevant statistical information where appropriate. You should also include appropriate and clearly expressed hypotheses.
You should include any calculations and all relevant SPSS outputs (e.g.., data screening checks, analyses, etc) as appendices.
For each question/exercise you should include the following sections:
Hypothesis or hypotheses: This should be clearly written and explain what you are testing for based upon the description of the research question.
Results: As stated above, in this section you should justify your selection of the test used and write up the results in the reporting style you have been shown.
Discussion: There should be a brief (i.e., a paragraph) discussion of the findings of the results in light of the research question.
Appendix: Please include any calculations and all relevant SPSS outputs for the question at the end of the answer to the question (in other words, don’t have a single appendix at the end with all of the outputs for all of the questions – it makes it more difficult for us to check them for an assessment like this).

Requirements of submission: Written components of project must follow these formatting guidelines: double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, and APA format for all elements. The literature review should be a minimum of 12 pages, not including references and a cover page (which are required).
Main Elements
Your literature review will represent a curated selection of at least eight of the articles identified in the annotated bibliography that directly address the hypothesis of interest. The organization of your literature review should follow a standard essay format (introduction, hypothesis, main points addressed in fully developed sections, and a conclusion that summarizes your main points against your hypothesis). The elements below do not need to be addressed in sequential order.
Specifically, your literature review must address the following critical elements:
I. Hypothesis and overview of research [PSY.510.03] a. What is your topic of interest? How does your hypothesis relate to your topic?
b. Based on the eight articles, what is known for certain about the topic?
c. Based on the eight articles, what remains unknown or uncertain about the topic?
d. How does the research in your review address real-world problems? Is the research applicable to larger audiences? What lessons can be learned for non-academic audiences?
II. Research designs [PSY.510.02] a. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the research designs of the selected research in your topic?
i. What are the research questions they are attempting to address?
ii. Are they successful or unsuccessful in addressing the stated research questions? In what ways?
b. Identify any erroneous conclusions that were drawn in the research.
c. What are the lessons learned regarding research design for future studies?
III. Research methods [PSY.510.01] a. What are the chosen research methods (qualitative, quantitative) used in the eight articles?
b. What are the major…

‘MMI’ -Transformation to a selfless me
1.Introduction
I am the only daughter in my family. My dad passed away when I was very young. As a spoilt and pampered child in the house, I always think of what I want, and what I think. It is always Me, Myself and I (“MMI”). In my project, I would like to propose for a change in this undesired thought which ultimately affects my undesired behaviour. This selfish thought of mine has made me a very selfish person.
There are a few instances where my friends fell out with me due to my selfishness.I need to change my selfish behaviour, in this world, it should not be just MMI, and there are more than just this. Often, I am too impulsive, and it seems that my brain is taking full control of my behaviour and action too fast. I want to change this selfish behaviour before I losses more friends and my love ones. I know they are putting up with me for too long. I need to change my mind-set first and convinced myself that the MMI thoughts do not work in this world. It leads to a lot of unhappy people around me. Why do I have such a mind-set in the first place? I kept thinking that why my mother and my brother couldn’t give me more love? My mother has a mild stroke and all I think was, why should couldn’t communicate with me more often? If I can think the other way round, then my expectation of her will change. In my proposal, I will state that I wanted to change my selfish thoughts and behaviour. I will include the reasons why I need to change and what is the cause of my selfish behaviours and thoughts.
I will write a journal on a fortnight basis about myself and list down all the selfish and selfless behaviours that I have done. Initially, I believe that I will have more selfish behaviours then the latter one, but I hope that it will be slowly reduced.
After 3 weeks of this exercise, I should have an evaluation of myself for the behaviour change exercise. I will need a group of 10 people to fill up a questionnaire about the…

Assignment
The assignment is a written, individual assignment worth 40% of the total grade for the unit. You are asked to write a 2,000 word essay on the following.
The requirements of the assignment are important. Please read the following carefully.
The UK insurance industry currently has the following life-expectancy forecasts for people in their early 20s: Men, 82 years; Women, 84 years; at least one partner of a couple, 86 years. Thus, most people on the Behavioural Finance unit have lifetime investment horizons of over 60 years. This is what we mean by the very long term.
For the very long term investor there is something special about the stock market. There are strong arguments and evidence that say that the stock market is the best asset class for the very long term investor. This means that for your very long term future you should be investing in the stock market. So even if your future career has nothing to do with the stock market, you still have to know how the stock market works.
Assignment requirement: Write a 2,000 word essay. In the course of your essay you must answer the following questions (not necessarily in the same order in which they are given):
(1) Explain why the stock market is regarded as the best asset class for the very long term investor.
(2) What is the difference between passive investing and active investing?
(3) If you believe in modern finance and the EMH you will be a passive investor. If you believe that behavioural finance can be applied to very long term stock market investing you will be an active investor. Explain why?
(4) Are you going to be an active or a passive…
