this assignment, you will consider the effect of culture and context on communication. There are many definitions of culture, but most include a reference to shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and effective understanding that are learned through a process of socialization. These shared patterns identify the members of a cultural group while also distinguishing those of another group. Culture is about symbols and language, and these elements are central to communication. The idea of something being “lost in translation” is readily apparent to most people who have studied another language and translated a passage into their own primary language. The rate of speech and importance of nonverbal aspects of communication are just a few ways culture can impact the message sent. The importance of context always varies by culture—for example, in some cultures, what is said is much more important than how it is said while in other cultures the “how” may carry much greater importance. Tasks: Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following: Analyze a recent conversation you had with a person of a different culture. Or, if you haven’t had this type of conversation recently, find a video clip online that focuses on people from different cultures communicating and analyze the clip. Provide a brief synopsis of the conversation—what was the general content and context? Describe how you greeted this person. Did you greet this person with a kiss, a handshake, or some other cultural mannerism? Was there additional touching or no touching at all? Describe your physical proximity. How far were you standing from each other? What if any body language was evident?
Did you maintain eye contact? Describe the physical characteristics that might be evident. What were you wearing? Were you dressed in casuals or in business attire? Describe what the other person was wearing. How might the apparel make a difference in the conversation? Describe the protocol for the conversation. Did you take turns talking, or did you both talk at the same time? How did you refer to each other? Do you feel like you had equal time to express yourself? Why or why not? Did the physical setting impact what was discussed? What did you talk about? How was the conversation brought to a close? What happened at the end? How might your own cultural affiliation have impacted this conversation? Do an analysis using support from scholarly sources.

PSYC CAPSTONE

READ CAREFULLY! 14 pages-APA PSYC CAPSTONE–PLAGIARISM WILL BE DISPUTED

After researching the psychology specialties listed below using the
Occupational Outlook Handbook  at http://www.bls.gov/oco/   along with the
American Psychological Association website at http://www.APA.org
Write a pair (2) of succinct and thorough paragraphs summarizing the job responsibilities, work locations, salaries, education, national licensing requirements and career outlook for each career represented as percentage of growth expected.
After each of the 12 paragraph pairs, note whether that specialty in psychology would be of interest to you as a career option in the future and explain why or why not. (So far in class, I’ve expressed an interest in School Counseling and Child Psychology)
Once the 12 sets of paragraphs and interest or non-interest explanations are complete, compile them into a single APA formatted paper using the career titles as separating headings within the paper body.
End the paper with two paragraphs comparing and contrasting the way in which information about the 12 careers is communicated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook vs. how it is communicated on the APA.org website (i.e. which format was the easiest to navigate and understand; which had the most “news you could use” [i.e. info useful to someone accessing it to make a career decision).
This paper must be in compliance with formatting rules of the American Psychological Association (APA) and include a title page, paper-body with source credits and a reference page attached to the end listing each source used. You may use additional internet sources to find the answers to the above as well.
***Your paper should be at least 14 pages but not over 17 pages. This assignment requires you to write succinctly. You will need a title page, an abstract and a references list but these are not counted in the 14 page minimum content.*****

Curbing Bullying in Adolescents with ADHD

project 1

Topic: Curbing Bullying in Adolescents with ADHD
The following sections should be included:
1. Introduction/Problem – This should describe the problem (which may be a research problem or an applied problem), the purpose of the research, and the significance of the research. If your research topic is related to a gap in knowledge, you should clarify what is known and where the conflict or gap in knowledge exists. If you choose an applied problem, identify the issue to be addressed and include an accurate and detailed overview of the issue. In general, include all information that you think is necessary to establish a comprehensive analysis and foundation for understanding your chosen research topic, including a theoretical framework or the theory that is guiding your proposal. This section should address your research question(s).
Consider the following questions: What is the purpose of the proposed research? How does the purpose reasonably fit within the research problem? Further, what are the assumptions and potential limitations associated with the identified problem or gap in knowledge or applied problem? This section should also discuss your target audience, such as academics, mental health professionals, organizations, and so on. (This may be a broad audience for research that is oriented toward contributing to theory or a specific organization or community for research that is focused on addressing applied problems and interventions.) Discuss your target audience in relation to this proposal and why your research would be relevant for this audience.
For example, in what way would your research help address how we understand a phenomenon or help an organization address a critical problem? Your target audience will depend on your area of study. For example, for students on a general track in this degree program, your research concept paper might center on researching a general issue in the area of psychology. If you have a concentration in child and developmental psychology, your proposed research must focus on a specific psychological need or issue surrounding children, adolescents, and/or teens. If you have a concentration in industrial and organizational psychology, your proposed research must focus on factors contributing to the advancement of an organization’s performance through application of psychology.
2. Literature Review. This section is an analysis of the scholarly debate on the theory and research related to your research question. The literature review should not be a collection of summaries. Rather, it should be organized according to the message you want to convey and appropriately synthesize the literature into your message. This suggests that you will draw from multiple sources in order to best communicate your points. Organize your review so that it provides a logical argument for the background of your proposed research and how your research fits into the big picture.
3. Research Design. This should include a detailed plan to collect and analyze data, as well as highlight the types of sources you would use. You may choose a qualitative or quantitative approach. However, your choice of method, design, sampling, data collection, analysis, and overall process should be justified and logically fit with your research question(s). Proposals that involve implementation of interventions will have a program evaluation component that must include research design. This section will also require you to discuss the reliability and validity of your measurements. Finally, you should consider how you will operationalize or measure the main concepts/variables you are researching and include a description of your data sources.
4. Ethical Considerations. This should include a thorough explanation of the ethical considerations related to the topic and to your proposed study. Your explanation should address the ethical ramifications of the problem, the population under study, the data-collection instruments and their analysis, and so on. This section should incorporate peer-reviewed literature as well as relevant codes of conduct (i.e., the American Psychological Association).
5. Conclusion. In this final section of the text, you will summarize your study and explain why your proposed research is significant, highlighting the practical implications of your potential findings for your target audience(s). This section should also include an analysis of your research’s potential contribution to the field of psychology.
