FINAL PROJECT GUIDELINES
Your paper will be graded on grammar, punctuation, organization and content.  Remember use correct terminology and give details of your observation (i.e. context, distractions, behaviors, reactions, etc.)  Your paper should begin with an introductory paragraph of your subject including age and where the evaluation took place (i.e. family room, backyard, park, etc.) The body of your paper should be a detailed account of your observation. For example, “Joe attempted to make a three block tower but was only able to place two blocks before the blocks fell.” Your paper should end with a conclusion paragraph should be a summation of your results and how well your subject completed the assigned tasks.

Write a research paper of 5 pages (double spaced) on any topic of interest in the area of abnormal behavior. Your paper needs to include reference to our textbook and at least four to six (4-6) full-text peer reviewed journals or books (i.e.: American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, etc…). WIKIPEDIA is not an acceptable reference. . Writing well is critical.
Instructions for Writing the Research Paper:
Length: The body of your essay should be five (5) pages. Add three (3) pages: 1) title page, 2) abstract, and 3) references. If figures and graphs are included in an appendix the paper should not exceed 10 pages. Late papers will not be accepted. Follow APA style.

Briefly describe any situation in your own experience where the communication failed because the non-verbal behavior sent a negative message. Which aspect of non-verbal communication contributed to the failure? How would you correct this? (10 marks)
The following example illustrates an organizational barrier to communication. By the time the message is passed down from the Chief to the lower level Executives, it is distorted completely, so much so that the original message is interpreted differently by each level in the organization.
Memo from CEO to Manager: Today at 11 o’clock there will be a total eclipse of the sun. This is when the sun disappears behind the moon for 2 minutes. As this is something that cannot be seen every day, time will be allowed for employees to view the eclipse in the parking lot. Staff should meet in the lot at ten to eleven, when I will deliver a short speech introducing the eclipse, and giving some background information. Safety goggles will be made available at a small cost.
Memo from Manager to Department Head: Today at ten to eleven, all staff should meet in the car park. This will be followed by a total eclipse of the sun, which will appear for 2 minutes. For a moderate cost, they will be made safe with goggles. The CEO will deliver a short speech beforehand to give us all some information. This is not something that can be seen everyday.
