Theories of International Development and the NWICO

DESCRIBE THE TWO MODELS, IN YOUR OWN WORDS. AS YOU DO SO, REFLECT ON HOW AND WHY BOTH REVEAL TO US CERTAIN IDEAS AND FEATURES RELATING TO THE NATURE OF “MODERNITY,” A CONCEPT DISCUSSED IN THE LECTURE.

This is a very serious work. I do expect a very high quality; otherwise, I will not give a high rating, so pls read everything carefully and send the agreement after u r confident about it.  The file “wilson” is what I wrote for this work but I dont think it is right. anyway, I still uploaded for u to get an idear.

General information relating to the exam

These are the exam questions for the section of the course relating to weeks 1 through 5 or October 6 through November 5. This is the international communication section of the IICS515 course.
These papers are intentionally short, and intended to allow you to build your comprehension of the course material so as to support you in your preparations for the research paper. They also provide the instructors with an opportunity to return grades and constructive advice to you at regular intervals during the IICS515 course.

Choose 2 (two) of the following 6 (six) questions. Your answers should be approximately 3 (three) pages long and no more than 1000 words in length. You are asked to choose 1 question from the October 15, 20 and 22 lectures and readings, and 1 question from the October 27, 29 and November 3 lectures and readings. That means you are asked to submit 1 assignment by Sunday October 26 and 1 assignment by Sunday November 9. Please submit the assignments to the appropriate dropbox on the Moodle site.

There are 2 (two) 1000-word assignments in this half of the IICS515 course. There will be another 2 (two) 3-page assignments in the second intercultural communication half of the course.

For each question, I have listed the date of the lecture, the relevant themes discussed that day, and the assigned readings that day. Please concentrate on the readings and themes indicated for each question.

Please use APA when quoting from a source, and when summarizing and paraphrasing from a source. If you are unsure of your knowledge of APA, please use the Research Idol presentation and podcast. Some basic information relating to APA as it pertains to our assignment is offered below.

Microsoft Word format papers are preferred, if possible.  There is no need for a title page. And last, please put your name on your paper.

Suggestions for writing an excellent paper:

Here are some suggestions for writing papers of quality.

  1. These are short papers. As such, it is recommended that you only address those concepts and points from the readings and lectures that you believe most important. Practice economy in your writing, and be efficient in the concepts and points you select. Don’t feel you need to address everything in a given lecture or reading. Rather, address only what you feel is most important.

  1. If you quote from the sources, do so sparingly and rarely. I am interested in your comprehension of the readings and lectures. Quoting does not really demonstrate your understanding of the material.

  1. Your opinions are welcome in the papers. I want to hear what you think, rather than have you merely cite from the sources and the lectures. But allow your thoughts to be informed and shaped by the readings. The best papers are those that offer evidence of your own intellectual growth, and that are written in such a way as to display your intellectual honesty.

  1. A very good way to demonstrate your knowledge of a concept is to define it in your own words.

  1. We will have a review in class before the first and the second assignments are due. Take advantage of those reviews to ask questions and get answers.

How to cite using APA:

The APA citation method is the style of citation used in communication studies. APA stands for the American Psychological Association; this method is used in a number of other social sciences, including psychology. There is a discussion of APA in the Research Idol Powerpoint and podcast.

Evaluation of a Weight Loss Program
Many Americans believe that they are overweight, by a few pounds to a few hundred pounds. Because of this, weight loss systems are big business. For this assignment, you are to select a weight loss system and evaluate it in terms of the information about the physiology of ingestive behavior covered this module.

  • Find a website, a brochure, a popular article, or an advertisement about weight control that proposes a mechanism for loss of excess weight.
  • Document the key proposals in terms of the main claims for success of the program (e.g., restriction of fat and small portions).
  • Describe the reasons provided for the effectiveness of the program (e.g., a full stomach reduces hunger).
  • Discuss the physiological components involved in the weight loss program. Clearly express an understanding of the physiology of the process of hunger, satiation, eating, and drinking as relevant for the weight loss method being described (e.g., long periods between meals would be likely to reduce blood sugar levels).
  • Present a critique of the materials based on the module information on eating and weight regulation.
  • Evaluate the proposal and suggest whether you would try this weight loss system or recommend it to someone else. Explain why or why not.

For references use the course text book and Scholarly sources are preferred  and  use reputable web sources, look for .gov or .edu sites as opposed to .com sites.
Your paper should be double-spaced, in 12 point Times New Roman font, and with normal 1-inch margins; written in APA style; and free of typographical and grammatical errors. It should include a title page and a reference page. The body of the paper should be between 3 and 4 pages.

explain how you would make a differential diagnosis between schizophrenia and autism

  1. Part 2: Next, take one of the differential diagnoses listed in Part 1, and explain how you would make a differential diagnosis between your primary diagnosis and that particular differential diagnosis. Next, apply it to Randall’s case.  In other words you are going to explain why Randall has the primary diagnosis that you gave him and not the common differential diagnosis. For example, if you gave Randall the primary diagnosis of schizophrenia (he doesn’t have schizophrenia), you would need to list autism as a common differential diagnosis, and then explain how you would make a differential diagnosis between schizophrenia and autism. What key characteristic do you look for to indicate that Randall has schizophrenia and not autism?  If there is additional information that you would like to have to help you make a differential diagnosis, you may discuss this here.

  1. Part 3: Take one of the common co-morbid conditions listed in part 1, and discuss whether or not Randall also has this common co-morbid condition in addition to his primary diagnosis. Explain why you think he also has this additional diagnosis by listing the specific symptoms that Randall displays or explain why he does not have this additional diagnosis by discussing what symptoms he does not display.  If there is additional information that you would like to have to be able to say that he has another diagnosis, you may discuss this here.  (10 points)

  1. Based on the known causes of the particular primary diagnosis you gave Randall, speculate about the cause(s) of his diagnosis. You don’t have enough information to definitively know what caused the problem. Consider the most common cause of the disorder.  It would be appropriate to address two or three causes; one that applies specifically to Randall’s situation and one based on the most common cause of the disorder. You want to explain these causes from a technical perspective. Use information from the textbook to explain why this causes the disorder that Randall has or provide data that supports that this is a true cause of the disorder. Hint: You absolutely need to cite information from the text or another source in this section. (10 points)

  1. Based on the known treatments for Randall’s primary diagnosis, what treatment(s) can you recommend for him and his family? How is this type of treatment conducted? Be very specific about the name of the treatment and what is done in the treatment. Generic statements like, “Randall should seek therapy,” are inappropriate. What type of therapy would you recommend? How is this type of therapy conducted? Be careful not to give a laundry list of all the possible treatments.  Pick the best treatment for Randall, and explain this treatment in detail. (10 points)
