Examine how participative leadership functions in today’s modern health care organization and compare it to other types of leadership styles

Approved Topics:

  1. Examine how participative leadership functions in today’s modern health care organization and compare it to other types of leadership styles. Evaluate how each type of leadership style may impact organizational culture, employee performance, and how it may help or hinder the legitimacy of authority.

After identifying your topic, choose a health care organization in your area. This organization may be small or large and may provide single inpatient health service or multiple outpatient services; it is your choice. Consider your topic in light of the leadership of this organization and research the challenges and successes it has faced in managing operational effectiveness.  You are welcome to use as many research methods as possible to obtain information for your organization and its managers (e.g., web-based resources, electronic articles, or personal interviews). The more informed you are, the better prepared you will be to complete your project.

Finally, develop a management training program that includes relevant guidelines and information to combat the issues identified in the selected topic, as well as recommendations for managers to more effectively lead health care organizations. Your training program should be in the form of a 20 to 25 slide PowerPoint presentation (excluding title and reference slides) that includes comprehensive speaker’s notes (i.e., at least 150 words) for each slide. Utilize at least three to five scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library and two to three current, scholarly web sources (total of five to eight references required). All sources must be cited according to APA style.Your presentation must be engaging and relevant to your audience. Lines of text on a slide will not be sufficient for this project. It should contain at least five images, graphics, and/or multimedia that communicate your training clearly to your audience. For tips on creating an excellent presentation, read this overview

The Senior Project:

  1. Must be 20 to 25 PowerPoint slides (excluding title and reference slides) in length. There are 20 content criteria worth a total of 10 points.
  2. Must include a title slide that contains the following:
    1. Title of project
    2. Your name
    3. Course name and number
    4. Instructor’s name
    5. Date submitted
  3. Must include an introduction with a succinct thesis statement.
  4. Must address the topic of the project with critical thought in the areas of:
    1. Organization details
    2. Challenges and opportunities
    3. Training program outcomes
    4. Impact on at least three stakeholder groups involved delineated by cost, quality, and access to service
    5. Suggested actions
  5. Must include a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
  6. Must use at least five supporting graphics (images, graphics, and/ or multimedia) are included and relevant communicating the training content (two points).
  7. Must include speaker’s notes that have evidence of critical thinking and application (content analysis, synthesis, evaluation) related to the research methodology used to develop (six points):
    1. Project content
    2. Practical and relevant solutions to the organizational challenges/opportunities
    3. Appropriate evaluation of individual stakeholder groups involved
  8. Must use at least three to five scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library and two to three current, scholarly web sources.
  9. Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  10. Must include a separate reference slide, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Application 4: Planning for Change, Implementing and Evaluating EBP Projects

Evaluating EBP Projects

Many factors influence how successfully an EBP Project is implemented and evaluated. As noted in this week’s Learning Resources, using a translation framework can facilitate effective implementation and the evaluation of outcomes.

As you complete Application 4, revisit the evidence-based practice model or framework you selected for your EBP Project (Application 2 [see attached file]). How does the model or framework facilitate the evaluation of outcomes? Would another model or framework better meet the needs of your project?

To prepare for this week’s section of Application 4:

  • Continue      (from this week’s Discussion[ use the discussion you are currently working on for me]) to:
    • Identify       an appropriate method for evaluating your outcomes.
    • Develop       new practice guidelines based on the possible results of the evaluation.
    • Create,       if appropriate, new standards of care that would be based on the new practice guidelines.

This paper should be written in APA format with a minimum of 8 scholarly references. All level 1 & 2 headers must be as in the grading rubric (see attached file). The paper must also include an introduction ending with a purpose statement and a conclusion as per APA guidelines. Do not go over the required maximum of 8-page. The Paper must be cited often and throughout.

The full Application 4 is due by Wednesday 10/31/18 before midgnight of this week. Instructions for how to prepare for previous sections of this Application have been provided in Weeks 8 and 9 (see attached files on WK8 & WK9 discussions you previously did for me).

To complete: (See attached Grading Rubric)

Write a 4- to 8-page paper that addresses the following:

1) Planning for EBP Change (see attached file on WK8 Discussion)

a) Analyze the impact of implementing change in your practice environment, including the factors that need to be considered regarding stakeholders and end users.

b) Summarize the methods you would use to ensure that those are adequately addressed.

2) Implementing EBP Projects (see attached file on WK9 Discussion)

a) Identify the desired outcomes of your EBP Project.

b) Describe any macro or micro systems issues that may inhibit implementation and strategies for resolving those issues.

c) Explain how resolving your EBP Project issue will improve quality and patient safety.

3) Evaluating EBP Projects (See this week Discussion you are currently working on)

a) Describe evaluation strategies.

b) Formulate new practice guidelines based on the possible results of the evaluation of outcomes.

c) Describe, if appropriate, new standards of care relevant to the new practice guidelines

Discuss the spectrum of acute coronary syndrome

A 58-year-old man comes to the emergency department (ED) in the early afternoon with a 2-day history of severe chest pain. The pain started on wakening the previous day. He comes to the ED today because the pain is severe and no longer relieved by rest. His father died of a heart attack at age 62; he smokes one pack of cigarettes per day; and,he describes his lifestyle as sedentary.

  • Blood pressure 180/96, pulse 98, temperature 99.8° F, respirations 20
  • Height 5’11”, weight 210 lbs, BMI 29.3 kg/m2
  • Skin diaphoretic and clammy
  • Heart rhythm regular, no murmurs or extra heart sounds
  • Cardiac markers and Electrocardiogram (EKG)—pending

1. Discuss the spectrum of acute coronary syndrome. 2.What would you anticipate this patient’s cardiac markers and electrocardiogram could potentially reveal?

3.Describe the healing process that occurs in the infarcted myocardium, identifying vulnerable periods during the healing process.
