It is becoming increasingly common for educators to teach concepts by posting educational videos online. For this assignment, you will demonstrate your effective communication skills in the context of a group setting by creating a video script in a Word document that could be used for an educational video. Your audience is a group of graduate students with a limited foundation in psychological research.
Based on your learning and experiences through Weeks 1 to 10 of the course, complete the following tasks to create an engaging, clear, and stimulating script:

  • Explain what scientific method is and when it is used.
  • Provide an example demonstrating each step of the scientific method.
  • Explain all the methods of statistical analysis that are frequently used in advanced psychological research. When would you use each method? How would you determine which method to use?
  • Give an example of each method of statistical analysis. How would you interpret the results?

Super, Osborne, Walsh, Brown, and Niles (1992) indicated that the life-career rainbow is the “development and unfolding of the life career of a person from birth until death.” Holland utilized personality trait theory to identify six types of individuals on the basis of their vocational interests. In high school, we are tested and counseled on potential career and college prospects. We even attend college with a career goal in mind. Interest in a particular career may not be the same as entering that type of career field. There are many factors that influence career choice and continuing in that career.

  • Search the Internet for more information on the life-career rainbow and explain how it may fit into the lifespan perspective of adult development. On the basis of your personal observations and experiences, describe why Super’s life-span theory of career development may or may not be accurate.
  • Describe Holland’s personality types. Explain how his theory is used to help individuals find their vocational interests. Using specific examples, describe the strengths and weaknesses of the theory.
  • Explain the idea that throughout adult life, an individual may often be defined by his or her career (doctor, lawyer, store manager, nurse, etc.). Describe, using your personal observations and experiences, how an individual’s career choice may affect him or her throughout life.

Create a fictitious persona based on the role you are assuming and create a website with the following required elements.
Name, Photo, and Credentials: Be sure to include your persona’s degree, type of license, and any professional membership organizations appropriate to your assumed role. You may also list any appropriate division memberships and certifications applicable to your specialty.
Personal Statement:  Create a 200-word personal statement in which you describe attributes that make your assumed persona, practice, and/or agency unique. Explain to potential clients what problems and/or issues you address and how you could help them in your assumed role. You may also describe why you have chosen this profession and why people choose to work with you.
Specialties: Identify at least three areas in which your persona specializes (e.g., trauma, relationships issues, anxiety, depression, self-esteem). Confidentiality and Limitations: Explain to the client what information will remain confidential in your sessions as well as the limitations of confidentiality. Keep in mind the age of your target population.
