this assignment, you will consider the effect of culture and context on communication. There are many definitions of culture, but most include a reference to shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and effective understanding that are learned through a process of socialization. These shared patterns identify the members of a cultural group while also distinguishing those of another group. Culture is about symbols and language, and these elements are central to communication. The idea of something being “lost in translation” is readily apparent to most people who have studied another language and translated a passage into their own primary language. The rate of speech and importance of nonverbal aspects of communication are just a few ways culture can impact the message sent. The importance of context always varies by culture—for example, in some cultures, what is said is much more important than how it is said while in other cultures the “how” may carry much greater importance. Tasks: Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following: Analyze a recent conversation you had with a person of a different culture. Or, if you haven’t had this type of conversation recently, find a video clip online that focuses on people from different cultures communicating and analyze the clip. Provide a brief synopsis of the conversation—what was the general content and context? Describe how you greeted this person. Did you greet this person with a kiss, a handshake, or some other cultural mannerism? Was there additional touching or no touching at all? Describe your physical proximity. How far were you standing from each other? What if any body language was evident?
Did you maintain eye contact? Describe the physical characteristics that might be evident. What were you wearing? Were you dressed in casuals or in business attire? Describe what the other person was wearing. How might the apparel make a difference in the conversation? Describe the protocol for the conversation. Did you take turns talking, or did you both talk at the same time? How did you refer to each other? Do you feel like you had equal time to express yourself? Why or why not? Did the physical setting impact what was discussed? What did you talk about? How was the conversation brought to a close? What happened at the end? How might your own cultural affiliation have impacted this conversation? Do an analysis using support from scholarly sources.

term paper Life Science

You will be required to do a term paper on one of the topics listed below.

  1. Discuss how the unique physical and chemical properties of water contribute to the importance of water for life on Earth to survive.
  2. Discuss how the methods of experimentation and observation have changed throughout the history of science.
  3. Explain the role so called “accidental” discoveries played in the history of science.
  4. Describe the major experiments and scientists involved in the discovery of DNA as our hereditary material and its structure.
  5. Explain what role women played in the Scientific Revolution of the 18th Century? What role do women in science play today?

This assignment will be worth 20% of your grade.  Your paper should be creative and interesting, and should be a minimum 1500 to 2000 words in length. It should be well-organized and demonstrate an orderly flow of information that clearly addresses the subject chosen.

How is meiosis related to genetic diversity?

2 papers needed asap

1. Create at least a 350-word blog post in Microsoft® Word in response to the following question:
Female copperhead snakes have the ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually. In your opinion, which method is best for the species in general and why?
Develop your opinion andinclude the following in your post:

  • Discuss asexual and sexual reproduction in terms of genetic diversity. How is meiosis related to genetic diversity?
  • Use one of Gregor Mendel’s ideas to support your opinion.

Cite your sources according to APA guidelines. See the Center for Writing Excellence for more information on using APA style.
2. Review information on genetic disorders on the National Human Genome Research Institute Site: http://www.genome.gov/.
Choose a genetic disorder that can be inherited from a parent. Write a 525- to 700-word paper on the genetic disorder. Include the following in your paper:
Summarize the Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance and how chromosomal abnormalities can lead to genetic disorders.

  • Describe the relationship between chromosomes and DNA.
  • Identify an example of a genetic disorder and describe the genetic disorder including symptoms, impact on quality of life, and life expectancy. How common is this disorder? Does it run in specific ethnic bloodlines?

Using the Scientific Method Lab
Establish a better understanding of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, and apply the scientific method to solve (or understand) a problem. Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment. They are essentially the same reactions, but they occur in reverse. During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide and water yield glucose and oxygen. Through the respiration process, glucose and oxygen yield carbon dioxide and water. They work well together because living organisms supply plants with carbon dioxide, which undergoes photosynthesis and produces glucose, and these plants and bacteria give out oxygen, which all living organisms need for respiration.
Using the M.U.S.E. link, review the background information and animation to complete your report. Use the lab 1 worksheet for assignment instructions and data collection.
Please submit your completed assignment in your assignment box.
For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.
Reading Assignment
Biology (2012), Chapters 1 & 2
Assignment Objectives

  • Design a scientific experiment.

Other Information
Instructions:
Don’t forget to answer part one questions of your worksheet separately
Using what you learned on the lab animation, answer the following questions:

  • Define a hypothesis that is suggested by the data that are collected in the lab.
  • Complete a lab report using the scientific method.
  • What effect does the intensity of light have on the rate of photosynthesis (measured as the number of oxygen bubbles)?
  • Is it possible to examine the relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration under controlled experimental conditions? Explain your answer in detail.

Instructor’s Comments:
You cannot resubmit your paper for a better grade
Make sure the correct content is under each header
