Choosing what area of human sexuality to study begins with examining the following areas related to the course competencies. Use this as a guide when choosing research articles. One thing to remember this is a course on psychology so the research should relate to human sexuality within that area:

  1. The major theories associated with human sexual behavior.
  2. The history of sexual behavior.
  3. The features associated with male and female anatomies, physiologies, and sexual responses.
  4. Commonalities and differences in sexuality across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
  5. Gender roles in the expression of human sexuality.
  6. The current trends in human sexuality.
  7. The interplay between intimate relationships and sexual behavior.
  8. The occurrence and course of sexual disease and dysfunction.
  9. The features of sexual coercion (e.g., implicit and explicit).
  10. The role of the media in the promulgation of sexually explicit materials.
  11. The aspects of culture, environment, and geography that impact sexual behavior.

Find six journal articles related to at least two areas listed above. The type of articles that you will need to find is research articles located in scholarly journals.  Scholarly journal articles are also referred as primary source peer reviewed articles.  What cannot be used for this assignment are web pages, magazines, newspapers, text books, and other books.   Finally, current research for our purposes is an article that was published within the last 5 to 6 years.

  • Write a summary for each of the journal articles found.
  • Write an analysis and evaluation for each of the journal articles found.

Your research team has been tasked with finding the correlation of the following scenario: Four research participants take a test of manual dexterity (high scores mean better dexterity) and an anxiety test (high scores mean more anxiety). The scores are as follows: Person Dexterity Anxiety 1 1 10 2 1 8 3 2 4 4 4 -2 Describe the process your research team would go through by completing the following:
1. Create a scatter diagram of the scores, which should be a negative direction.
2. Describe in words the general pattern of correlation, if any.
3. Figure the correlation coefficient.
4. Explain the logic of what you have done, writing as if you are speaking to someone who has never heard of correlation (but who does understand the mean, standard deviation, Z scores, and hypothesis testing).
5. Provide three logically possible directions of causality, indicating for each direction whether it is a reasonable explanation for the correlation in light of the variables involved. Explain why.

Learning and cognition is a broad discipline. For this discipline-based literature review, you will research peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years on the following constructs within this domain:

  • The Neurosciences: A Look at Our Brains
  • Socio-Cognition: Social Interactions in Learning
  • Learning and Literacy: Reading, Writing and Language Development
  • Diversity and Culture: The Effects to Learning
  • Connectionism and Learning: A Web of Development

In your paper, use your research to provide an explanation of each of the above listed discipline-based constructs. Apply ethical principles to the explanations of each construct and consider the issues that arise in research within these different areas. Additionally, analyze each construct using a minimum of one peer-reviewed article per construct and provide support for your statements. Within this analysis, explain the theoretical perspectives and empirical findings for each construct that are pertinent to the field of learning and cognition.
The literature review:
seven to ten double-spaced pages in length, not including the title or references pages, and formatted according to APA style
at least five peer-reviewed sources (a minimum of one source per construct)
Included four articles from library still need one.

Explain the four steps of the research process you followed, and define the critical value and the test statistic your analysis provided.

Select one of the following scenarios based on your particular field of interest in psychology: General Psychology:   Clinicians at a small clinic have been introduced to a new method to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in their clients for veterans. Research indicates that virtual reality (VR) is a highly effective treatment option for patients with PTSD. Currently, the clinic uses only cognitive processing therapy (CPT) with their patients suffering from PTSD. The clinicians would like to find out whether VR therapy has different results from CPT therapy. The measure used by the clinic to measure PTSD symptoms is the Combat Exposure Scale. Both therapies need to be applied for a minimum of 12 weeks to be effective.
Create a 12- to 15-slide presentation using the information you gathered and submitted in Weeks 3 & 4. Include the following:
·         Describe the problem, and provide some brief background about the situation.
·         Explain the research hypothesis.
·         Describe your sample and your sampling method.
·         Explain the four steps of the research process you followed, and define the critical value and the test statistic your analysis provided.
·         Provide the main finding of the study. What did you prove or fail to prove?
·         Provide recommendations based on your findings.
Format any citations in your presentation according to APA guidelines.
