Family And Society- Sociological Perspective

I will attach the readings needed for this assignment. Please include them in the essays. In this class, you will be asked to pay close attention to the role of race, ethnicity, and class in shaping families. The readings by Baca Zinn and by Hays address these issues. Sexuality is also important, but this course focuses on other dimensions of inequality.

Think about your own assumptions about families. When thinking about your own life, in what ways do you blame or credit your family and its practices or values for how you turned out or where you are today? What other social processes does this kind of thinking miss?

Think about a social problem about which you know a lot or a little. What is that social issue? In what ways do you (or others) hold families responsible for causing that social problem? What assumptions about families are behind that thinking? What other social processes does this thinking miss?
