Part One: Research
Watch a nutritional documentary of your choice.  Examples of films include, Forks Over Knives, Super Size Me, The Magic Pill, and/or Cooked. Please list the resources used at the end of your completed essay. 

Part Two: Documentary Essay
What you must include in your essay…
1. Discuss two to three of the main concerns addressed in the documentary? Do you agree with them? Why or why not?

2. Discuss at least five things you evaluate when determining if information is coming from a valid and reliable source.

3. Using the methods discussed in question two:
  a) What was your overall opinion on the quality of the information provided in this film? In your response you should specifically address the resources used. 

  b) Did you think the information was factual?  How did you determine if the information was fact or opinion?

Please Note:
Teacher note; Do not simply summarize the documentary. I want to see that you can work through the information presented to determine what might be opinion and what might be valid scientific evidence.  I do want to emphasize that this is an essay, so I want your information to flow nicely and to be in paragraph form.

The research topic is “Super(Big-Box) store has a NET POSITIVE impact on the STAKEHOLDERS”.
1) Be sure to focus on the keyword “Net positive impact” and “stakeholders”;
2) Be clear on who are the stakeholders: owners, customers, environment, etc, and how the big-box stores positively impact them.
3) Do the research and use examples as much as possible, such as Wal-mart superstore, and Costco, use CASE STUDY would be helpful.
4) Don’t use many fancy words, be simple;
5) use clear structure:introduction-body paragraph-conclusion; in the body paragraph also use clear structure: topic sentences-quote(example)-analysis
6) at some point in the paper, mention the corporate social responsibility, for example, how do big-box stores take their corporate social responsibility?

Pandemic (Covid-19)

You will prepare a research paper on the broad topic of Pandemics, covering the following issues:

(1) Define a Pandemic. 

(2) Review the history of Pandemics throughout human history and their impact upon past societies. 

(3)  What role does warfare, colonization and changing climate play in pandemics?

(4)  What role does population size play in pandemics?

(5) Possible origination of the Corona Virus (2019COVID-19 outbreak), summary of its rapid spread.  (There is an alternate theory besides the Wuhan, China live animal market).

(6) Explain (including graphs) why flattening the bell curve is so important. 

(7) How is the epidemic affecting you personally?  Are you prepared to observe social distancing  (if deemed necessary) until viable medications/vaccines become available.  This is projected to be next Spring, 2021 at the earliest.

(8) What is the likely trajectory of this pandemic and why is it so important that a vaccination be developed quickly.

Remember please to  use only reputable educational online sources, and to fully reference them in a bibliography.  Both the New York Times, New Yorker and Washington Post are excellent sources of information.
