Research paper on The CSU Widget Factory

The CSU Widget Factory has been experiencing an increase in back and shoulder injuries due to manual lifting of boxes in the warehouse. You have observed that the workers may not understand the importance of body mechanics when lifting a load. Prepare a paragraph that explains how to lift a load properly, including a discussion of the forces on various parts of the body when lifting is done incorrectly. As an additional illustration, calculate and compare the load moment for lifting a 12-pound electrical motor held close to the body with the load moment for lifting the same motor held 20 inches from the body. Show all calculations.Your response should be a minimum of 200 words in length.2. Your analysis of injuries at the CSU Widget Factory has revealed that 98 employees were required to take time off last year due to issues related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), mostly back and shoulder injuries. Discuss a variety of strategies that can be used to identify operations or processes with the potential to create or aggravate MSDs. Keep in mind that employees do not always recognize MSD symptoms as work-related, and may also be reluctant to report symptoms. There is no need to propose solutions—we are just trying to identify the sources of the problems.Your response should be a minimum of 500 words in length.3. Based on your recent analysis of injuries related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) at the CSU Widget Factory, your boss wants to try to reduce the amount of manual material handling, especially in the warehouse. Using the hierarchy of controls, propose at least five control measures that would help reduce the amount of manual lifting and/or reduce the likelihood of injuries caused by manual lifting. Explain clearly how each of these proposed controls would reduce the risk of injury, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and what new hazards, if any, might be created if the control is implemented.Your response should be a minimum of 500 words in length.

Your paper provides the opportunity to combine the research from a classic theorist such as Marx to a modern day theorist such as Cornell West, Michael Eric Dyson, or Patricia Hill Collins.

Your paper provides the opportunity to combine the research from a classic theorist such as Marx to a modern day theorist such as Cornell West, Michael Eric Dyson, or Patricia Hill Collins.

All papers demand thoughtful synthesis and critical commentary on a contemporary issue related to “Black Lives Matter.” As an example, Marx discussed the relationship of the proletariat to the bourgeoisie and the ownership of property as a symbol of power and oppression. These concepts could be related to current state of economic deprivation, educational dysfunction, poverty and race from the works of Cornell West.

You have wide latitude in selecting themes/focal points, but in all cases your paper should demonstrate how a sociological theorist addresses overarching/integrative questions about sociological theory. Some preliminary bibliographic sources are provided in the syllabus and your texts. You must consult sociological journals and books for scholarly writing relevant to your theorist. The paper should include understanding of primary works by the theorists in addition to secondary analysis.

Final Research Paper Format:

Introduction (1-2 pages). Introduce your theorist and briefly situate him/her in terms of the overarching topics and questions which concern our understanding of the social world. By the end of the second paragraph it is essential that you have told me what the purpose of your paper is and what your central argument / thesis is. If you read the first two paragraphs of your paper and the goals and purpose of the paper are not very clear, please revise. I would also suggest a “map” paragraph at the end of the introduction that tells me where we will be going in the paper. (For example, “I first explain….then argue….by presenting evidence about three themes….”)

Body (6-8 pages). In this section please present and develop your argument by providing several distinct pieces of information / evidence in support of it. Durkheim wrote, “My ideas are destined to be modified and reformulated in the future.” Keep in mind a comparative framework throughout your paper regarding developments, amendments, and disagreements that exist between your theorist and other theorists.

If there is any relevant background to explain about your thesis / argument present that first. (For example, key terms may need a paragraph to articulate what you mean. Perhaps a brief paragraph or two about the history relevant to your argument would be necessary).

Conclusion (1-2 pages): By this point, your argument and all of your evidence should be clearly presented. Briefly summarize your argument here and think about what the implications of your argument are more broadly. If your findings raise questions about other topics covered in this class, please make those connections briefly here. If you have concluded, after writing this paper, that you want to know more about your topic, explain what the next steps might be. etc.

**After you have finished writing your paper, go back and read the introduction, the first sentence of each of your paragraphs, and your conclusion. From this, the point of your paper should be very clear. If parts of your argument are embedded in the middle of other paragraphs (so you don’t see them when doing this little test), restructure your paragraphs. Also make sure that you don’t conclude something that contradicts or is very different from what you say in the introduction. After finishing their first draft, most people need to take the conclusion to their paper and use it to rewrite their introduction!

Your paper must present a clear and comprehensive view of the theorist’s place within the discipline of sociology. What were the critical contributions and outcomes of their research? How did they reshape or redefine perspectives in sociology?

TOPIC :

Systemic Racism in America has been a social injustice for over 400 years. In today’s society, we would like to think that race and racism are that of the past. Unfortunately, that is not the reality that African Americans have continued to endure even after the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. Systemic Racism is intertwined into the fabric of the United States. The social, financial, and racial inequalities that African American’s experience to this day have not changed and can demonstrate the connection between two different time periods. The declining significance of race can be explained using the works of classical theorist Karl Marx and contemporary theorist William Julius Wilson.

  • Discuss the speed of airfreight transportation in terms of its line-haul and accessorial service.
  • Why is the reliability of airfreight transportation somewhat problematic?
  • How do truckload operations differ from less-than-truckload operations?
  • How do speed limits and hours-of-service rules potentially affect motor carrier service?
  • Discuss the drawbacks to rail transportation.
  • Discuss the positive attributes of inland water transportation.

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

  • Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example below.
  • Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
  • Include cover page and reference page.
  • At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
  • No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
  • Use at least three references from outside the course material, one reference must be from EBSCOhost. Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the three reference requirement.

Now you will review your work journal entries and arrange some of them into an essay. The essay will reflect upon those five (5) weeks of experiences recorded in your journal and what you have learned.

Journal response. In Weeks 3-7 you were directed to keep a professional work journal (Please refer to Week 2 for a review of instructions). Now you will review your work journal entries and arrange some of them into an essay. The essay will reflect upon those five (5) weeks of experiences recorded in your journal and what you have learned. Include how they may have furthered your career or caused you to rethink your career goals. Your essay should include your experiences, observations, and the key concepts based on the internship and business course experience. The CLA 1 assignment will be a Turnitin paper of 4 to 6 pages.

Your paper should be formatted in APA style. Include at least two (2) peer-reviewed sources related to course material taken in your academic program and scholarly journals.

Reminder About Journaling: Whether you want to be able to look back at where you started, set a future state for yourself and seek a new path, or just deal with present issues, journaling helps you do that in a reflective way. You need not write every day. Journaling gives you a place to better understand yourself, to plan your goals, and to follow-up on goals. One pitfall of journaling is that it can devolve into a log of your feelings for any one day. You want to keep these types of emotional responses from happening
