8.2: Posting: Has Criticisms of Congress changed your mind about the place? Options Menu: Forum
Its not really a big mysterypeople like to bash Congress like they like to bash the media.  But its still there, and has been since 1790.  So lets see if we cant learn more about what those criticisms are, some views of the experts, and whether or not they changed your mind about them at all.  Lets do it like this:

1.    Read Chapter 11.

2.    Go to this site: https://corg.iu.edu/resources/interactives/modules/EAS/pdf/pork_barrel.pdf

3.    Read each entry.

4.    Answer the question in the title in at least 200 words in the 8.2 forum.

5.    Reply to ONE other posting in at least 200 words, agreeing or disagreeing and explaining why.

death penalty

According to the US Supreme Court and the US Constitution, capital punishment is acceptable when the severity of the sentence has been deemed to be appropriate to the severity of the crime.Somepeople believe the death penalty is a justform of capital punishmentfor the crime offirst degreemurder.As of January 2008, 37states permit capital punishment. On the other hand, some people believe the death penalty is unjust because it violates the Eighth Amendment of theUS Constitution, which forbidscruel and unusual punishment.

Draft a 3 -4 page paper stating the arguments for and against the death penalty. Discuss recent SCOTUS decisions (the past decade or so) as they relate to the Eighth Amendment. Where do you think the US is going to go with it in the future? Do you support the death penalty or not? Explain.

How do we evaluate 1911 revolution?

The greatest influence of the revolution of 1911 on later generations was to overthrow the rule of the Qing dynasty, ending the feudal autocratic monarchy and establish the bourgeois-democratic republic so that the concept of democracy was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and promoted the emancipation of the mind. It is different from the change of dynasties that is common in Chinese history, and it is not limited to driving out an emperor, but fundamentally shook the faith of most Chinese people, ended the feudal monarchy in China for more than two thousand years, and promoted the transformation of traditional Chinese civilization into modern civilization.
However, during the revolution of 1911, warlords in various regions also rose one after another. Everyone wanted to be the master of the country, so the revolution of 1911 was also influenced by warlords. Moreover, Yuan Shikai took advantage of the opportunity to turn the victory of the revolution of 1911 into his own bag and became the President of the Republic of China for 84 days.

Computational Methods in Civil Engineering

I’m looking for someone to write me a matlab code for this project please let me know if you can. The project is this:

The attached text file contains about 1,000 test results (from Prof. I-Cheng Yeh, Chung-Hua Univer- sity, Taiwan) on the strength of concrete with different mixture compositions and curing times.
The goal of regression here is to predict the concrete strength (x9) as a function of the other variables, so that concrete of the required strength can be made with less trial and error. The variables are:
x1 = cement content (kg per m3)
x2 = slag content (kg per m3)
x3 = fly ash content (kg per m3)
x4 = water content (kg per m3)
x5 = superplasticizer content (kg per m3) x6 = coarse aggregate content (kg per m3) x7 = fine aggregate content (kg per m3) x8 = curing time (days)
x9 = concrete compressive strength (MPa).
Fit each of the following function classes using least squares:
x9 as a (a) linear, (b) quadratic, or (c) cubic polynomial function of x1;
(d) x9 as a linear combination of x1, x2, x3, …x8, i.e. x9 1×1 + 2×2 + 3×3 +…+8×8
(e) x9 1(1 exp(x8/2))
(f)x9 1×1+2×2+…+6×6+7×7+8(1exp(x8/9))
(e-f require nonlinear least squares fitting)
Make a table of RSS, R2, number of parameters, and AIC for cases a-f. Based on your results, what do you conclude about the best regression function for concrete compressive strength?
