Describe the age appropriate activity in some detail (provide more than just the name of the activity). Identify developmental milestones which supports the use of this activity (Table 5.1 in your textbook will be useful here).

Physical Development Activities

[WLOs: 3, 4] [CLOs: 1, 2, 5]

This week we begin working on elements that will become part of your  Community Center Proposal Final Project. If you have not already done  so, go to the Week 5 – Final Project  and thoroughly review the instructions for creating the proposal. This  week, you will be creating three activities that will become part of the  infant room, early childhood room, and adolescent room of your center.

Prior to beginning this assignment, read Chapters 4 and 5, Sections 14.2 and 15.2 in your textbook, and the Physical Development: Motor Development (Links to an external site.) article. Additionally, watch the Boys: Entering the teen years, Girls: Entering the Teen Years, and Playing videos on physical development.

Physical development, especially in infancy and toddlerhood but also  into middle and late childhood, is primarily focused on the development  of fine and gross motor skills. But the milestones and activities for  each age group are very different. In adolescence, the fine and gross  motor skills have been mostly developed, and the focus is about strength  and skill building as well as dealing with the effects of puberty.

For example,

  • Coloring or playing with clay would not be an appropriate activity  for an infant to improve fine motor skills, but it would be for the  early childhood room.
  • In middle and late childhood, children are developing the muscle  mass to greatly improve their abilities to run and jump and play  organized games, which would not be appropriate for infants or toddlers.

There are many websites aimed at both parents and educators that  describe activities to promote physical development. The activities you  select do not have to be complex, but they do need to be age appropriate  and grounded in developmental milestones. Focus on the primary  developmental tasks of each age period. For each of the three  activities, write a paragraph that addresses the following:

  • Describe the age appropriate activity in some detail (provide more than just the name of the activity).
  • Identify developmental milestones which supports the use of this activity (Table 5.1 in your textbook will be useful here).
  • Identify how the activity supports physical development for that age group.

Explain the kind of equality you wish to discuss (money, opportunity, or political) (B) Explain, in your own words, the reasons why someone might want this kind of equality/to think that it is moral.

The purpose of this assignment is to have you practice the skills necessary in:

1. Identify and apply a variety of epistemological, metaphysical and ethical theory

2. Evaluate and differentiate between an epistemological, a metaphysical and an ethical question

3. Understand and apply the criteria of correct philosophical reasoning

4. Present a solution to a philosophical problem

But, in a round-about way, each of the outcomes is present. And with this, we will have hit on all of the outcomes for this class, in one way or another.

Task:

In the text as well as in the module pages, there are explanations of various kinds of equality, arguments for that kind of equality, and issues with implementing that kind of equality. For example, there was equality of the distribution of money, the utilitarian reasoning for this, and the impracticality issue with it. Your task is to:

(A) Explain the kind of equality you wish to discuss (money, opportunity, or political)

(B) Explain, in your own words, the reasons why someone might want this kind of equality/to think that it is moral.

(C) Explain, in your own words/with your own examples, the issues with that kind of equality.

(D) Explain what you think about the reply (whether it’s good or bad) and why.

Each of these should take you around a paragraph to answer. Each of them is worth 5pts. Labeling your paragraphs with ‘(A)’ through ‘(D)’ according to what part you are talking about in them will make grading very fast and easy for me. Since this is worth 20pts, this is worth 5% of your total grade.

Submission:

To submit this assignment, I only accept .pdf, .doc, .odt, and .docx. I do not accept .pages. You can find where to submit in the upper right of this screen. As for all assignments in this class, the standard is Times New Roman, 12pt font, double spaced, 2-3 pages (that is, at least a few words onto the second page to the bottom of the third).

Tips for Success:

Always be sure that you have the correct amount of information, adding fluff will only get you so far.

Be sure that you have adequately answered the prompts.

Adding personal examples will make this task more enjoyable for you to write and for me to read.

The amount of space taken up by a header will be subtracted from the total length.

What type of career do you envision for yourself? (If you are not sure, simply mention a potential field or subject area).

For our last assignment please give it some thought and respond to the following questions:

1. What type of career do you envision for yourself? (If you are not sure, simply mention a potential field or subject area).

2. Think about all of the chapters and topics we have covered (e.g. phonetics, phonology, morphology, non-verbal communication, language revitalization, sociolinguistics etc.). How has the information in this course prepared you or given you insights into your chosen career path? It may not be readily apparent but try to think about how it may apply. Please give examples from at least 3 different chapters/topics and give some specific examples within your response.

For example, “I plan to become a police officer with the Seattle PD. I found the chapter on non-verbal communication interesting because as a police officer you may have to gauge when people are telling the truth or lying. By examining adaptors (such as a nervous tick or evasive eye contact) I could potentially interpret these cues as indicators of unease or potential dishonesty.” Then the remainder of the response would cite 2 other chapters such as sociolinguistics (with details gender) and regional dialects (with details about changes in vowel pronunciation). Please bold the terms you use.

Make sure your response is about 500 words.

Discuss the patient’s right to terminate care with a health care professional. Identify the steps a patient would take to terminate care. Explain the ethical components that would take place in that process.

When examining the communication between a medical professional and a patient, it is important to see a real-world example of what that communication looks like. Please examine the example of a basic patient informed consent form for the common surgical procedure of gallbladder removal entitled, “Gallbladder – Cholecystectomy With Common Duct Exploration (Laparoscopic) (Cholecystectomy With Possible Common Duct Exploration [Laparoscopic]),” located in your readings for this topic and answer the following questions in a paper of 1,000-1,200 words:

  1. Based on what you have learned about the Patients’ Bill of Rights and autonomy, do you believe this basic patient consent form adequately informs patients of their medical rights? Explain your answer in detail and use a reference for support.
  2. Would the basic consent form for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy be understood by the average person in the United States with a reading ability of a typical 8th grader? Explain your answer.
  3. Describe at least three steps health care providers can take in order to ensure patients understand their care as well as prepare them to give acceptable consent for the procedure.
  4. Discuss the patient’s right to terminate care with a health care professional. Identify the steps a patient would take to terminate care. Explain the ethical components that would take place in that process.

Include at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed references from the GCU Library to support your positions.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
