Course Project: Part 1—Identifying a Researchable Problem
Formulating a question that targets the goal of your research is a challenging but essential task. The question plays a crucial role in all other aspects of the research, including the determination of the research design and theoretical perspective to be applied, which data will be collected, and which tools will be used for analysis. It is therefore essential to take the time to ensure that the research question addresses what you actually want to study. Doing so will increase your likelihood of obtaining meaningful results. A. In this first component of the Course Project, you formulate questions to address a particular nursing issue or problem. You use the PICOT model—patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome—outlined in the Learning Resources to design your questions.
To prepare: 1. Review the article, “Formulating the Evidence Based Practice Question: A Review of the Frameworks,” found in the Learning Resources for this week. Focus on the PICOT model for guiding the development of research questions. 2. Review the section beginning on page 71 of the course text, titled, “Developing and Refining Research Problems” in the course text, which focuses on analyzing the feasibility of a research problem. 3. Reflect on an issue or problem that you have noticed in your nursing practice. Consider the significance of this issue or problem. 4. Generate at least five questions that relate to the issue which you have identified. Use the criteria in your course text to select one question that would be most appropriate in terms of significance, feasibility, and interest. Be prepared to explain your rationale. 5. Formulate a preliminary PICO question—one that is answerable—based on your analysis. What are the PICO variables (patient/population, intervention/issue, comparison, and outcome) for this question? Note: Not all of these variables may be appropriate to every question. Be sure to analyze which are and are not relevant to your specific question. B. Using the PICOT variables that you determined for your question, develop a list of at least 10 keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search to investigate current research pertaining to the question. To complete: Write a 3- to 4-page paper that includes the following: A. A summary of your area of interest, an identification of the problem that you have selected, and an explanation of the significance of this problem for nursing practice B. The 5 questions you have generated and a description of how you analyzed them for feasibility C. Your preliminary PICOT question and a description of each PICOT variable relevant to your question D. At least 10 possible keywords that could be used when conducting a literature search for your PICOT question and a rationale for your selections

Do chaos theory and complexity theory have any place in health care systems?

Do chaos theory and complexity theory have any place in health care systems? Why or why not?
Discussion 1 – Week 2

Chaos and Complexity Theory in Health Care
Every organization must be considered the sum of its parts: the people, problems, and tools within it. Together, these parts shape the face of the institution and make it unique. When coming into a new organization, one should not presume that anything is so just because “that’s the way it was done at my other institution.” Different organizations have varying structures and approaches to management, and newcomers may find the environment confusing at first.
By Day 3
Consumers of health care expect predictable, safe, and quality care. Recall from the readings that organizational theory attempts to explain how organizations are structured and managed. Based on this week’s readings and what has been presented on organizational theory, respond to the following:
Do chaos theory and complexity theory have any place in health care systems? Why or why not?
Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature.

How might the manager for whichever department you chose above use technology/systems to improve patient care?

How might the manager for whichever department you chose above use technology/systems to improve patient care?
This short paper will explore the benefits of having technologies/systems in place to provide more in-depth information that will help drive decision making. The information that is gathered every day in healthcare drives patient care and the improvement of the quality of care. Each staff member within a healthcare institution has a role in improving patient care.In this short paper, complete the following:
Choose one of the following managers:
Director of Admissions
Manager of Billing
Director of Nursing
Manager of Purchasing
Chief of Medicine
Considering what you have learned about these types of managers thus far and doing
additional researching as necessary, answer the following:
How might the manager for whichever department you chose above use technology/systems to improve patient care? To minimize costs and maximize efficiency? If you are having trouble, think generally here about how technology improves record keeping, and then consider the type of data these managers and directors have to manage.
How does the system that the manager uses drive the decision making within the institution?
Support your answer with relevant sources.
Guidelines for Submission:
The short paper should be submitted as a Word document and should be a minimum of 2 pages in length.
All sources should be cited using APA style

Identify and describe the research problems, purpose, objectives, and hypothesis of the research.

Discussion Question 1( 2 pages)
