Discuss the nature of management, financing, and quality issues related to integration and cooperation in the facilities

Choose two long-term care facilities—one from nursing facilities, assisted living, or subacute care and another from adult day care, home health care, or hospice care—on which you would want to base your research work. Research Internet to read about your chosen long-term care facilities. Assume you are responsible for the management and administration of the two facilities. You have to orient the newly appointed manager by providing an overview on managing long-term care. You also need to discuss the programs of the two facilities. From this perspective and based on your research about the facilities, prepare a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation of 10–15 slides including the following: What are the various multidisciplinary departments (teams) included in your facilities?Who comprise the target population being served by the various programs provided by your chosen facilities? What are the major staffing and human resource issues faced by your chosen facilities? What are the significant trends in long-term care likely to impact the operation of the various programs provided by your chosen facilities, and what is your plan of action to overcome them? What are the various forms of cooperation and integration existing in your chosen facilities? Discuss the nature of management, financing, and quality issues related to integration and cooperation in the facilities? Support your responses with examples.Use the Notes section of the slides to provide additional information.Cite any sources in APA format.

Discuss when can a nursing license be suspended or revoked

Part I: Nursing LawsWhen nurses exceed their scope of practice, they violate their nursing license and may be performing tasks that are reserved by statute for another healthcare professional, such as a physician (Fremgen, 2012). Due to the shortage of nurses, their responsibilities are ever increasing, which may lead to actions that result in malpractice. However, nurses have not generally been involved in lawsuits for exceeding their scope of practice or violating their license, unless they also acted negligently (Fremgen, 2012).Accordingly, by using the Internet resources, research your state’s nursing laws and regulations. Based on the knowledge gained from your readings, respond to the following questions with examples:When should a nurse question the actions of a doctor? When can a nursing license be suspended or revoked?Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning by using examples and references from textbooks, the South University Online Library, and other acceptable references. Cite sources in the APA format. Further, comment on the postings of at least two peers.Part II: Ethical Issues in NursingBy using the Internet and the South University Online Library resources, review scholarly articles and respond to the following:Identify and describe at least three critical ethical issues affecting today’s nursing professionals. As a health care professional, explain the ways you will address these issues.Justify your answers with appropriate research and reasoning by using examples and references from textbooks, the South University Online Library, and other acceptable references. Cite sources in the APA format. Further, comment on the postings of at least two peers.Source: Fremgen, B. (2012). Medical law and ethics. (4th ed.). Boston, MA: Prentice Hall.

Describe the emotions evoked as you consider the Colorado Board of Nursing case stated

Criminal Prosecution for Nursing PracticeRead the following case study and submit a 1- to 2-page essay in a Microsoft Word document using APA 6th edition in response to the questions.Case Study:Until recently, the risk of criminal prosecution for nursing practice was nonexistent unless nursing action rose to the level of criminal intent, such as the case of euthanasia leading to murder charges. However, in April 1997, three nurses at the Centura St. Anthony Hospital, outside of Denver, were indicted by a Colorado grand jury for criminally negligent homicide in the death of a newborn. Public records show that one nurse was assigned to care for the baby. A second nurse offered to assist her colleague in caring for the baby. A third nurse was a nurse practitioner in the hospital nursery. Because the baby was at risk for congenital syphilis, the physician ordered that the nurses give 150,000 units of intramuscular penicillin, which would have required five separate injections. In relation to other problems the same day, the baby was subjected to a lumbar puncture, which required six painful attempts. To avoid inflicting further pain, nurse two asked the nurse practitioner whether there was another route available for the administration of the penicillin. Nurse two and the nurse practitioner searched recognized pharmacology references and determined that intravenous administration would be acceptable. The nurse practitioner had the authority to change the route and directed nurse two to administer the medication intravenously rather than intramuscularly. Unrecognized by the nurses, the pharmacy erroneously delivered the medication, prepared and ready to administer, in a dose ten times greater than was ordered—1.5 million units. As nurse two was administering the medication intravenously, the baby died. The Colorado Board of Nursing initiated disciplinary proceedings against nurse two and the nurse practitioner, but not against nurse one. The grand jury indicted all three nurses on charges of criminally negligent homicide but did not indict the pharmacist (Calfee & Plum, 1997).Respond to the following:Identify what emotions are evoked as you consider the Colorado Board of Nursing case stated above?Should the courts take into consideration the fact that the nurses’ error occurred because they wanted to avoid causing the baby unnecessary pain? Discuss your thinking. Can you think of other occupations in which the consequences of unintentional errors have greater legal implications? Discuss your answer. How should the nursing profession respond to this frightening new legal threat?Which sections of the State Nurse Practice Act did the nurses violate?Reference:Calfee, B.
