Who is the probable intended audience(s) for the television show you are analyzing? What factors contribute to your awareness of audience?

This assignment asks you to become a cultural critic by applying some of the concepts of cultural analysis to contemporary mass media. Your sampling of mass media will be a short portion of prime time commercial television. To complete this assignment you will select at least a half hour of television to analyze carefully. Take notes while watching with the prompts below in mind. Your analysis will focus on the representations of women in these cultural artifacts.

Your analysis will emerge out of your reflections about and responses to the prompts below. You will submit your work as a series of numbered responses to the prompts below in the discussion board (accompanying a speech video). While this assignment does not require you to write a formal essay, your responses should be carefully and thoughtfully written. Remember to incorporate specific examples from the TV program you watched to illustrate your analysis.

Discussion Prompts:

  1. Who is the probable intended audience(s) for the television show you are analyzing? What factors contribute to your awareness of audience? Consider not only gender but also age, race/ethnicity, geographic location, etc.
  2. Is there a relationship between the plot/action/narrative of the television show and the commercials that accompany it? To the target audience(s)? Explain. 1) Do the women who appear differ from one another, and if so, how? What is the relative frequency of women by age? By race/ethnicity? Are women (or anyone else) represented who are differently abled? According to dominant cultural ideals of beauty, how many women portrayed fall into the categories of ‘beautiful,’ ‘average,’ or ‘unattractive’? What range of weight is represented between the women and the men and among the women themselves? 2) In what roles do women appear (or not appear)? Do they play multiple roles (e.g. wife, mother, lover, worker?) What types of jobs do they hold? How much time to they appear to devote to their different roles? What kinds of work do they do? Can you see any difference in the roles assigned to women or to men?
  3. What level of education do the men and women seem to hold? Do you find women represented who appear to be of working-class backgrounds or to be poor? Are they major or minor characters? Are they portrayed sympathetically or used in ways that perpetuate stereotypes about race or class?
  4. What is the relationship of women in the show to the products being advertised in commercials? Does it vary from program to program, from channel to channel? Is there any evidence of a famous assertion that in public representations of gender, men do the looking and women are there to be looked at? What influence, if any, can you see in the three decades plus of feminism’s attempts to influence the representation of women in the media?

Once you have reviewed your television show, formulate your response and create a 2-3 minute video detailing your experience and thoughts. Your written prompts should be provided in when posting your video as well.

What are the responsibilities of the risk manager in workers’ compensation?

Respond to this discussion 250 words APA cite and ask a question

). What are the responsibilities of the risk manager in workers’ compensation?

A risk manager should identify, evaluate, and mitigate the possible risk exposures from various sources in the organization. One such risk is the ‘Employee Risks’. This type of risk is concerned with the equity and equality of the benefits given to the employees. This includes evaluation of the benefits and compensation from different legal premises including the EEOC, ADA, and so forth. A risk manager is to inspect and prevent the possible occurrence of the violation and report that to the top management so that any issue related to worker compensation and benefit does not lead to a severe penalty to the organization.

2). What role does employee safety play in risk management?

Employee safety has a significant role where risk management is concerned. If the work environment is not safe, there will be risk of having a significant number of minor and major accidents. These accidents’ cause the organization’s efficiency to be decreased due to the injury.  This may even increase cost for caring for the injured employee. Additionally, there is always a chance of getting severely penalized in monetary terms when any non-conformity is found in safety audits done by external organizations. These losses can be directly imposed or can occur indirectly. Therefore, employee safety is one of major emphasis on risk management.

3). What can the risk management team to do ensure the risks of workers’ compensation is properly managed?

There are two classes of activities on the broad level which the risk management group can perform

  • The pre-loss activities
  • The post-loss activities.

The pre-loss activities will incorporate elimination, prevention and safety. The post-loss activities incorporate control, claim management, and subsidizing for covering the money related loss assuming any.

Identify a way in which an individual develops a credible persona, both in person and online.

Part 1. Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

·         Identify a way in which an individual develops a credible persona, both in person and online.

Part 2. Reply to the following post in a minimum of 100 words:

“A person develops a credible persona, both in person and online by being honest, having integrity, being competent, transparent, having good judgement and being liked by others. It takes all these qualities to truly be credible. If one lacks just one, you have now made yourself no longer credible to a teammate, your leadership or even the general public. Being a credible person is challenging, it takes time and effort. It is okay to make mistakes, but to keep your credibility, you must own it and take responsibility and let people know what you are going to do to fix it.

An example of how I personally have built a credible persona at work is always following through on my commitments. If I am not able to make my commitment by the agreed to date, I will work with person to that I have agreed to and come up with a new plan. I will not just ‘blow’ them off. I have also found that building trusting relationships with teammates and leadership has not only allowed myself to grow, but I have also built a nice network of people. In this network there is always someone that is able to help out, answer a question, or just offer some advice or a solution to a situation or problem. This form of credibility is good for everyone.” – Jennifer F.

Part 3. Respond to the follow discussion in a minimum of 100 words:

“In today’s society, it is easy to develop an online persona that can determine our success, professionally and personally. Our current forms of in-person communication has regressed in my opinion, but is still just as important when trying to build a reputation. Our moral and personal appearance can reflect our professional work ethic, and employers may look into using such factors to determine whether you are a good “fit” for their firm or etc.

For example, your personal opinions on your social media account my not affect your career, but how you speak to your friends and family depicts your personality and emotional intelligence. Responses to your loved ones, such as “I’m a good listener” or “let me know if there is anything I can do for you”, shows that you are considerate, loyal, and dependable.

Responses to your professional peers, such as “I want to share my experiences and ideas” or “I want to learn about you”, indicate that you have a caring and open minded personality.

Speaking to someone in person and having the same responses as your online page can make a bigger impact on your persona. Your facial expressions and hand gestures can give the other person a sense of comfort and transparency. The ability to fluently speak with others can take a persons career further than just their education, I have personally seen it.” – Charles P.
