Assignment 2: LASA 1—The Strategic Components of State Healthcare Management Company

The State Healthcare Management Company (a fictitious company) has been established to provide coordinated healthcare to state workers.  You are a new manager in this company.  Your supervisor has asked you to review your company’s mission, vision, goals and strategies.  She/he posed the following questions and has asked you to provide a report (5 – 8 pages) answering each question.  Your report should follow APA guidelines and include at least four outside resources.

Given:The mission of the State Healthcare Management Company is to improve access to cost-effective, quality health care services for state workers.

Our vision for the next three years includes:

  • The public and government agencies are confident that our customers are being treated fairly in the determination of eligibility and benefits.
  • Healthcare providers see us as proactive partners to provide preventative care to our customers.
  • Turnover of key personnel is minimal, with sufficient staff education to insure compliance with new regulations.

Can anyone figure out what my topic or thesis should be for this essay? Prompt: According to the American Library Association’s Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, “An information literate individual is able to determine the extent of information needed; access the needed information effectively and efficiently; evaluate information and its sources critically; incorporate selected information into one’s knowledge base; use information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose; understand the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information, and access and use information ethically and legally.”Think about the topics and ideas discussed in the course readings as they relate to this definition of information literacy. How do the chapters on rhetoric (from the UNF Guide to Writing), the discussion of truth and post-truth in “Questing for Knowledge,” and Robert Proctor’s analysis of the production of ignorance in “Agnotology” help us to think about the topic of information literacy and how we can become more information literate? How can you assess your own knowledge and determine what you know, what you don’t know, and what you need to know? How do you determine what information is valid and what is not? Or who is a credible source information and who is not? How do you evaluate sources of information for objectivity, bias, and conflict of interest? What experience do you have writing case notes or progress reports for individuals served?       __I have almost two years experience writing details in case notes at work.  I have to make sure the adays events are covered for the inviduals in my classes for the day.. Also any events that happen that need a T log have to be put in promptly.
  1. What leadership skills are your strongest? Your weakest?____ I think fast on my feet, I am organized, and I am good at pulling people together.  Weakness being a people pleaser.
