Write a 6 pages paper on the threat of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is classified currently on its own, and it features an individual’s preoccupation with obsessive thoughts and the display of compulsive behaviors triggered by anxiety-provoking stimuli. DSM-V outlines the following criteria for the classification of OCD.

During the Dark Ages, when religion predominantly governed all facets of human existence, individuals suffering from obsessive thoughts just like those afflicted with blasphemous or sexual thoughts were believed to be possessed by evil spirits. Consequentially, the prescribed treatment entailed exorcising the evil spirits. Religion offered no factual justification for its diagnosis and treatment of OCD. therefore, the probability of recovery among those afflicted with the disorder was slim to none.

Scientific advancements during the Enlightenment era offered a different perspective on the causes, diagnosis, and possible treatment of OCD. Early physicians attributed the disorder to an imbalance in the body’s senses of humor. According to them, restoring balance to the senses of humor was achievable through bloodletting. These physicians distinguished between different types of compulsions and obsessions. for example, compulsive washing, checking, and sexual obsessions among others.

In the early 1900s, scholars discovered a psychological component to the disorder. Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud posited that obsessive-compulsive thoughts were manifestations of unconscious conflicts. Freud hypothesized that external prohibitions toward specific actions such as touching failed to abolish one’s desires to pursue those actions, as they resulted in repression. According to him, repressed feelings and thoughts persisting in an individual’s unconsciousness eventually re-surfaced manifesting themselves through peculiar behaviors.

Building on advancements made by early scholars, contemporary scholars continue to use highly advanced technology.&nbsp.for example, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to identify abnormalities in the brain structure that might predispose the development of OCD.

Learning is when buyers obtain the purchase and consumption behavior and gain experience useful to their future related behavior. It involves the acquisition and refinement of memories and actions determined by the skills, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of values by the buyer. Learning is defined by two theories that explain how this happens.

Even though there is no universally agreed theory on learning, the process is straightforward: learning happens, either intentionally or accidentally.

For the intentional acquisition of knowledge, the individual must have sought the information through objective research. However, accidental learning just happens to find an individual. This is where advertising is most efficient in achieving (Evans, Jamal, & Foxall, 2006).

The marketer is always interested in how the buyers learn as this information gives them an advantage in how they handle them. They still want to influence customer behavior, and this stems from the ability to teach the buyer their responsibility as consumers, the product of choice, and its attributes.

This is made effective through marketing and advertising (Lantos, 2010).

The product of the National museums of Australia is information. Its role is clearly defined and serves to inform the public on the Australian heritage and culture (National Museum of Australia, 2003-2010a).

The first marketing communication strategy employed is that of accelerated information. The brand utilises its website as its online tool for advertising its activities and products. Its main product is information where it sells Australian history and lifestyle.

This is conducted through seminars, exhibitions, and publications. The use of images of traditional Australians is an application of behavioral theory learning where the images invoke conditioning of ‘our heritage.’ Art galleries and buildings of national relevance derive the same effect. The individual is drawn to the article by the image and can open the report to acquire the artifact’s information or the classic architectures. The brand has journals, periodicals, and e-news releases to ensure their position is maintained to be the first to point the consumer in the right direction.

Scenario: The St. Fleur family is well respected in the Haitian community because they are religious with great moral values. They moved to the United States because of political issues in Haiti. Ronald, the youngest son of this family, is 27 years old and lives at home with his mother and father. Recently, he began having fevers and subsequently developed pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital, where laboratory tests were HIV positive. Ronald was in shock when the doctor informed him that he was HIV positive. He confessed to the doctor that he was gay, but he could not tell his family. He said that he did not want to bring shame to the family. Because he couldn’t be in a formal relationship disowning to his family and the Haitian community’s view of homosexuality, he has been very promiscuous over the years. What are Haitians’ views of homosexuality? If Ronald’s parents were to learn of his positive HIV status, how might they react if they are religious and traditional? Identify three major culturally congruent strategies a healthcare provider can implement to address HIV prevention practices in the Haitian community? Should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.

The present research has identified that if only black males of college age are considered then much fewer are in prison rather than in school. Also, the number of black males telecommuting, taking classes online, cannot be quantified. This is why some studies show slightly more black males in prison than in college. Still, this clarification does not lessen the astonishing realization that something is very wrong about a society where such a disproportion exists in its criminal justice and educational systems.

Realizing this unfortunate reality of our society is the objective of the question. The answer begs the question of why. A one-word reaction might be racism. Institutional racism, Jim Crow laws of the South, for example, has been outlawed for more than half a century but, rather ironically, racism within the nation’s justice system continues and is the root cause for as many black men being in prison as in college. Anyone who has turned into to watch the documentary of a prison, even for just a few minutes becomes instantly aware that black males are disproportionately represented within the prison population.

Black males comprise approximately 6.5 percent of the general population yet one-third of the prison population, more than any other ethnic group. When classified according to ethnicity, a broad disparity within the justice system is obvious. “At midyear 2003 there were 4,834 black male prisoners per 100,000 black males in the United States in prison or jail, compared to 1,778 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 681 white male inmates per 100,000 white males”. This overrepresentation of black males in prison is the opposite of that within institutions of higher learning.

Of all ethnic groups, black males experience the lowest graduation rate.
