Political-Legal & Technological Environments/ Socio-Cultural Environment

This is a 2 part assignment.

PART 1
According to a 2015 report, 32 percent of McDonald’s income was from the U.S., McDonald’s domestic environment —  leaving the lion’s share from overseas markets. (The Guardian, 2015).
For this discussion essay:
Select and research a foreign country where McDonald’s is located doing business;
Identify and evaluate McDonald’s political and legal limitations and barriers in that country, as compared to the U.S.; and
How McDonald’s has overcome (or should overcome) these barriers.

PART 2
As society and culture change,  a business must adapt to stay ahead of its competitors and remain relevant in the minds its stakeholders. Such changes include changes in customer preferences  in response to shifting trends and generational differences, demographic changes, and innovations in goods, services, and social media. For this discussion:

Reflect on the various potential changes of socio-cultural factors.
Identify one specific socio-cultural factor and identify a company that illustrates positive adaptation to that factor to stay relevant and successful.
Describe the ways in which the company has responded positively.
Then identify another company (NOT your “worst” company you are studying in Assignments) that has failed to prosper due to a change in a socio-cultural factor; explain why the company has failed in this point.
Discuss and compare these two companies, one succeeding – one failing, and provide insight for business response to overcome socio-cultural barriers.
What conclusions can your reach?

This paper is intended as a cross-ethnic/racial analysis paper which is focused on the topic of school segregation in the U.S. You will conduct research on school segregation across the nation, and its impact on different ethnic/racial groups such as Afr

The massive effort to desegregate public schools across the United States was a major goal of the Civil Rights Movement. Since the 1930s, lawyers from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) had strategized to bring local lawsuits to court, arguing that separate was not equal and that every child, regardless of race, deserved a first-class education. These lawsuits were combined into the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case that outlawed segregation in schools in 1954. But the vast majority of segregated schools were not integrated, and some scholars argue that school integration has been thwarted in the United States.

This paper is intended as a cross-ethnic/racial analysis paper which is focused on the topic of school segregation in the U.S.  You will conduct research on school segregation across the nation, and its impact on different ethnic/racial groups such as African Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans; you will examine federal and state laws and policies that have shaped schools, as well as their impact on these varied ethnic/racial groups; and finally you will discuss the impact of varied Supreme Court decisions on school segregation and what it means for diverse  groups of students and communities.

Your paper must draw upon a Critical Race Theory (CRT) framework to discuss these issues. You must use several class films and assigned readings, as well as outside academic (scholarly) readings to  support your paper’s development and analysis.  Keep in mind that you are assuming that your reader does not have any context and background on this topic.

Your paper will be 7-10 pages and length, and will adhere to APA rules. You will be required to use at least three films/videos, and 7 scholarly articles to support the development of your paper (a total of 10 sources minimum).

Social Control Theory

The research paper should be based on the topics discussed in class or topics from the textbook that are exclusively related to sociological theories of crime*. You need to take a decisive stand on one of the issues and defend it persuasively with evidence drawn from peer-reviewed journal articles.

The focal point in academic research is the clarity of the problem statement/ thesis statement and the objectives of any research paper because they lead you, as a researcher, to focus on some variables and not others and provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate why these variables are essential.
