After viewing (1) The Daring Lesson and (2) Day Two answer the following questions:

1. What did the children’s body language indicate about the impact of discrimination?

Presentation on Threats to the Global Environment
Overview
Congratulations! The members of the United Nations found great value in the two analyses you provided. They are now asking you to develop a PowerPoint presentation that addresses four of the most critical threats to the global environment. Critical threats include:

Energy sources.
Globalization.
Lack of educational opportunities.
Inappropriate use of technology.
Civil war.
Poor health of entire population.
Cultural taboos.
Climate change.
Instructions
Step I. Narrow the List from Eight to the Four Most Critical Threats
To complete this step, complete the following tasks in order:

Review research on each of the eight threats.
Determine what you believe to be the current and potential future impacts of each threat on the global environment.
Choose the four threats that you see as the most critical by considering which pose the greatest or most immediate risk.
Step II. Create the PowerPoint Presentation
The completed version of this presentation will include a minimum of 16 slides. Your audience consists of the United Nations General Assembly.

PPT Content and Structure
Title Slide: Include your name, course title, current date, and the name of your instructor.
Introduction Slide: List the four threats you chose, and in the Notes section offer a brief narrative justifying these choices
Body Slides: The slide content is listed in the outline below. For each body slide you develop, please include a paragraph in the Notes section explaining how the details you have provided in the slide are pertinent to the United Nations discussion on selecting and prioritizing goals.

One slide on the countries most affected by the threat, and how those countries are affected (please give examples).

For your fourth threat (this is the threat you consider to be the fourth greatest threat/highest priority):
One slide on a brief history and assessment of the threat.
One slide on the countries most affected by the threat, and how those countries are affected (please give examples).

One slide including a chart, graph, or compelling visual that relates to the content you present in body slides ac.
Conclusion Slide: Summarize your findings for the Assembly.
(Optional) Reference Slide: You can include full-text citations in the Notes section of each slide or provide a reference slide at the end of the presentation with the full citations of your sources.
Note:

Please discuss the threats in order of priority as described above, so the threat you consider the greatest should be discussed first in the presentation and so on.
Please use at least five credible sources to back up your discussion.
The body slides should summarize your key takeaways, whereas the notes section of each body slide should discuss the evidence and the details that support your takeaways. The content in both the notes and body sections requires citations and sources.

Spanning the Globe

review CASE 1: Spanning the Globe (which was part of your reading assignment on page 290). After reading this case study, in a minimum of a two-page paper, write a narrative that answers the following questions.
1. Freds comment to Eric could easily be frustration on his part but also considered a threat to sabotage Erics efforts to select qualified engineers to take the assignment to Mexico. What would you do, and why?

2. Fred has been a valuable employee, excelling in his international assignment, but he now is experiencing possible burnout and frustration over the extension of the assignment beyond the original agreements. A major reason for the delay is that he did not effectively get the job done because of lengthy delays stemming from his hesitation to hand things over to host country engineers. He was also ineffective in adapting to host country officials and regulations.
How would you address this with Fred?

3. Eric recognizes that Juanita Roberto, vice president of HR, is pushing for budget reductions and is advocating a do more with-less philosophy in the expatriate program. This includes changing pre-departure training for employees and family members. Erics current plan is effective, but he recognizes that a serious deficiency is the language training; it will require an increase rather than a decrease in spending. The language training is vital to success. How should Eric
convince Juanita of the importance of investing in better language training for expatriates?

4. What would be your plan of action to address each of the above issues?

Unit VII Power Point

For this assignment, you will be developing the final briefing to the CEO about your fictitious company the month prior to opening the new facility in Europe. In a 12-slide presentation, not counting the title and references slides, address the topics below. You covered some of these in earlier units, as Phases I and II in the timeline to open the new facility.

Describe the human resource implications that international growth puts on the firm. Be sure to address ethics, safety and security, and trade unions.

Describe the selection process of expatriate employees.

Describe the issues related to training and developing expatriates for international assignments.

Define the key components of an international compensation program. Define in which regional economic zones (e.g.EU or APEC) your fictitious company will reside, and the HR implications of the zone.

For this presentation, be sure to cover each of these important points, how these challenges were met, and include
expectations for the new company and staff.
