Why should we be careful not to gender-type mental disorders?

Discussion Assignment

Part 1
Depression, anxiety, somatic symptoms, and high rates of comorbidity are significantly related to interconnected and co-occurrent risk factors, such as gender-based roles, stressors, and negative life experiences and events (World Health Organization, n.d.). In this discussion, review the research on treatment differences in genders.
In your discussion, address the following:

  • How does gender play a critical determinant in mental health and mental illness?
  • Disorders such as depression, anxiety, and somatic complaints predominately occur in women, affecting approximately one in three people in the community and constitute serious public health problems (World Health Organization, n.d.). Why do you think this occurs, and what are the implications for the family and society?
  • Why are men more likely (more than three times) to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder than women? Provide a brief explanation supported with research.
  • Why should we be careful not to gender-type mental disorders?

Similarities and differences between development according to gender, ethnicity, and socially derived groups

Course Project II: Gender Case Study

The interviews that you completed provide background information for your course project to be submitted in this assignment. To support your work, you will also include a literature review. You will need at least three scholarly journal articles.  A literature review can be just a simple summary of the sources, but it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both a summary and a synthesis.
In your literature review:

  • Write a short summary (one to two paragraphs) for each article.
  • Write a brief analysis (one to two paragraphs) for each article and relate each analysis to your course and text readings.
  • Make a connection, if possible, to the interview process and your own evaluation of each interviewee.

When researching information for your literature review, you also will need to incorporate one or more of the following factors to relate with the interviewees’ evaluations:

  • Similarities and differences between development according to gender, ethnicity, and socially derived groups
  • Age-appropriate and socially constructed milestones
  • Impact of interpersonal factors (e.g., social roles and relationships) during early and middle adulthood
  • The nature of stress, coping, and resistance in the context of gender
  • The importance of gender identity in the context of work

Develop your final project in a 4- to 5-page Microsoft Word document written in APA format, including the following sections:

  • A title page
  • An abstract (summary of the course project)
  • An introduction section including:
    • An introduction to gender development and identity based on your course and text readings
    • The purpose of the paper
  • A literature review section including:
    • A review and analysis of the scholarly journal articles
    • An understanding of how gender theories apply to the interview responses and a comparison with your own responses (identifying the theories)

Explain psychological concepts in the patient’s presentation using professional terminology

Psychiatric Diagnosis

this assignment you will need my two previous assignment that I already turn in to get information to complete the case study and to get a diagnosis for the case study I have already choose. I will download every thing to you.
For this assignment, students will investigate and propose a psychiatric diagnosis based on the case study from the Gorenstein and Comer (2015) textbook Case Studies in Abnormal Psychology, chosen in the Week One “Initial Call” discussion. This paper will include an in-depth overview of the disorder(s) within the diagnosis, treatment options for the diagnosis, and a sound rationale that explains why this diagnosis was made. Note that the diagnosis may include more than one psychiatric disorder.
The paper must present a thorough overview of each disorder within the diagnosis. Assume the audience has no prior knowledge of the disorder(s) within the diagnosis, and provide relevant and easy to understand explanations of each for the readers. When writing the paper, it is critical to convey all the necessary information in a straightforward manner using non-technical language. (Reference the Professional Voice and Writing (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. resource provided by the Ashford Writing Center for assistance.) Support the analysis with at least five peer-reviewed sources published within the last ten years in addition to the course text.
