FIRE PREVENTION
You are the Fire Prevention and Inspection Officer for your community. You have recently completed a required quarterly inspection of all seven nursing homes in the community. Six of the seven have passed their quarterly inspections without any violations. The seventh, however, is found to have the following five violations:
blocked fire exits,
stairwells used for evacuation being used as storage of spare beds and mattresses,
automatic dry-chemical fire extinguishment system in kitchen is empty after being “accidentally” discharged two months earlier,
inadequate portable hand-held fire extinguishers in the dining room, and
lint filters/collectors in the laundry room dryers are packed with flammable lint.
Discuss your course of action to be taken in order to remedy these violations. Cite your local and state fire protection regulations and rules applicable to all violations.
CRICTIAL THINKING Identify a time where you, someone you know, or a group of people have displayed sociocentrism or egocentrism. Explain what could have been done differently and list some specific ways that these forms of thought can be eliminated from one’s life.

How will the face of healthcare change as the Baby Boomer generation retires and other generations assume the responsibilities for our fast-paced, demanding healthcare environments?

Many forces are at play today in healthcare settings that healthcare professionals and administrators should be cognizant of and consider when designing plans for the future direction of healthcare delivery and reform. Some of these contributing factors include political, regulatory, staffing, insurance and reimbursement, socio-economic, and long-term care influences. However, there are still additional factors to be considered. What special interest groups are pushing for legislation and policy specific to their needs?
