Quantitative Reasoning I Project: Creating Visuals From Data

The purpose of this assignment is to have you practice creating visuals using the data from the topic you chose in Week 2. Creating charts and trendlines are important skills used in many careers.- I chose  health services and nursing scenario

Watch How to Create Trendlines and Scatterplots in Excel®.

Watch Week 4 Lynda.com® Video: Data-Analysis Fundamentals with Excel.

https://www.lynda.com/Excel-tutorials/Data-Analysis-Fundamentals-Excel/196583-2.html?srchtrk=index%3a1%0alinktypeid%3a2%0aq%3aData-Analysis+Fundamentals+with+Excel%0apage%3a1%0as%3arelevance%0asa%3atrue%0aproducttypeid%3a2

Create at least two visuals using your data from the data you chose in Week 2.

  1. Create one scatter plot of the data, and apply a linear model (also known as a regression) in Excel®. Include the equation, R2 value, and prediction value on the visual.
  2. Create one scatter plot of the data, and apply an exponential model in Excel®. Include the equation, R2 value,  and prediction value on the visual.
  3. Determine whether the linear or the exponential model is a better representation of your data to base your prediction on. Explain why the model you chose is a better representation of your data.

Hints for Making an Effective Chart:

  • Decide why you are making a chart from this data.
  • Title each chart so that it aligns with the data and selected model.
  • Create descriptive labels for both the x- and y axes.
  • Resize the chart as needed so it can be viewed easily.

Your assignment will be graded using the Week 4 Grading Guide.

Select the Assignment Files tab to submit your visuals as either an Excel® file or a Word document.

The topic chosen is health services and nursing scenario

Why I chose this topic is because I find nursing very interesting. This is because nurses give their all in order to serve other people who are in need of help. Again, the topic of infants is one that really fascinates me. I find children very interesting to be around. When it comes to analysing data in a bid to find out the number of children born in a hospital, I will surely be interested. This topic analysis predicts the number of children to be born and this is an interesting topic to explore. It enables one to understand what people thinks about children and the general trend, if any that they are following when it comes to bearing children.

When doing the analysis, I hope to find a general trend that the data follows as years pass by. From a casual view at the data, the number of babies born in every year increases gradually as years move by. Therefore, after an analysis, I would get a relationship that the data follows. From the relationship if any, then it would be possible to predict the number of children that will be born in years to come as well as those in the past. From this data, a nurse or any hospital management staff can make a decision that is informed in a bid to improve the services in the health organization, keeping in mind the movement of data with time. It also allows them to understand the level of satisfaction of their customers.

International Relations: NGOs: Friend, Foe Or Foil?

Subject: International Relations

This homework we’re focused on NGOs. For this assignment, please complete the three parts described below:

1. Each student should present a description (in your own words) of an individual nongovernmental organization’s (NGO’s) mission and capabilities.

2. Describe the NGO and its capabilities in your own words (paraphrase and cite). Don’t cut and paste something from the NGO website. Obviously, you’ll want to pick an NGO that is involved in issues related to the course. Be sure to use more than one source and incorporate references to course material.  Please be sure to paraphrase and cite the information rather than quoting it.

3. Your summary should indicate why your NGO should be considered as a friend, foe, or foil. Some NGOs play important roles in conflict resolution. Some NGOs stir up conflict. They also play important roles during the economic, social, and governmental aspects of peace settlements–the kind of problems that often cause negotiated settlements to fall apart and conflicts to reemerge.

300-450 words excluding references, APA format and a minimum of 3 references

Cover Letter To Congressman And Pamphlet

Required Resources Read/review the following resources for this activity:

· Textbook: Whitman Cobb, W. N. (2020). Political science today (1st ed.). Washington, DC: Sage, CQ Press.

· Minimum of 4 scholarly sources (in addition to the textbook)

Instructions You are a lobbyist for an issue that you find important. For example, you would like to see the banning of smoking in federal buildings (Note: This policy has already been enacted.) You are going to make an informational pamphlet to highlight your points to prominent members of Congress. Research members of Congress that you will target in your lobbying. Explain why these members are critical to your goal. Make a plan of action and produce a pamphlet supporting your cause. Who will you be reaching out to? Why? Write a cover letter to a Congressional member and include your reasoning for reaching out to them in particular in the letter. Remember a lobbyist is only as good as the information they provide. A lobbyist who provides incomplete or unreliable information will soon be unemployed or lose access to officials.

Cover letter should:

· Follow a standard business format

· Correctly address your Congressperson

· Use the correct postal address

· Explain your choice to write to this representative in particular, and provide your pamphlet. For example, maybe your research showed that this representative sponsored legislation on this issue in the past.

Pamphlet should:

· Define the problem. Tells us exactly what the problem is. Detail its urgency and provide data. Be objective.

· Analyze the problem. Provide relevant data. Tell us how to make sense of the data. Provide any findings

· Offer a recommendation. Do not generalize. Be specific.

· Must be persuasive.

· Cite four scholarly sources

Submit your cover letter and pamphlet for grading.

Writing Requirements (APA format).

· Length: Cover letter to Congressman should be only 1 page

· Pamphlet should be 5 pages in length

· 1-inch margins

· 12-point Times New Roman font

· Reference page (minimum of 4 scholarly sources)

Grading This activity will be graded based on the Assignment Grading Rubric.

Howard Cunningham Is Being Appointed to Office!

The case of Howard Cunningham surrounds Cunningham being charged for sleeping with a 15-year-old minor, while on college spring break in Daytona Beach, Florida 1968. Cunningham got off with 1-year probation which he served in Tennessee where we resided. Since the incident, Cunningham became a successful businessman and recently has been up for consideration to joining the President’s Task Force on Interactive Media Services. Once news broke out about Cunningham’s proposition, the woman who Cunningham had sex in 1968, decided to share her side of the story where she states Cunningham took advantage of her. Cunningham decided to sue to the newspaper for publishing private facts.

I believe that Cunningham can’t prove that the information released was private facts because they were not. The case was never sealed therefor, they are open to the public. As stated in the post, “She got the file, she said, from the courthouse. While theoretically, it had been open since it was filed, no one ever looked at it because few people even knew it existed.” The woman got the case by doing what anyone could have done, and she received the documents legally. I do not think Cunningham would win the private facts case.

Cunningham is also suing the newspaper for intrusion, because they took a photo of him while on his private property, even though the photographer was on public property. This is not clear yes or no in my opinion. I think that because Cunningham is a public figure and the photographer was on public property he technically has the right away. It would be if he was just another celebrity being followed by paparazzi. I believe that he also could not sue for this because the photographer wasn’t on Cunningham’s property.

If Cunningham was not a public figure then I believe it could be different, because he could sue because he felt threated and/or set out a restraining order because he believed he was being stalked. Unfortunately, Cunningham is a public figure and sometimes has
